Gansevoort Hotel New York City Guest Reviews (18)
I had booked the room for my girlfriends birthday and we were having a great time until 5am when we were about to call in a night and head back to our room for bed. I guess since when I booked the room originally I had only listed 1 person in the room they wouldn't let the 5 of us upstairs. The maximum occupancy for the room was 4 people because their was a king size bed and a pull out bed so 1 friend offered to leave since he already lived in the city. Still with the 4 people they would not let us stay because our reservation was only for 1 person....absolutely ridiculous. The late night/early morning front desk staff were completely unsympathetic to our situation. All we were looking to do at that point was go to sleep because we were exhausted. Instead we had to take a 7:07am train home to New Haven and then drive to Hartford. Not a lot of fun after celebrating all night. I will never give the gansevoort my business again.

THE WORST STAFF AND WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!! I BOOKED THIS HOTEL ROOM A MONTH IN ADVANCE AND REQUESTED AN EARLY CHECK IN AND A LATE CHECK OUT! A MONTH IN ADVANCE!!!!! I GOT THERE AT 10:45AM AND IT WAS NOT AVAILABLE, I GET THE FACT THAT I ARRIVED EARLY BUT SOME GIRL NAMED BOBBY OR ROBBY WAS SO RUDE ABOUT IT AND SHE SUGGESTED THAT I GET DRESSED AND LEAVE THE HOTEL UNTIL ROOMS WERE READY. SHE WANTED ME TO GET DRESSED AT THE LOCKER ROOM AT THE POOL. GROSS, GHETTO, AND PATHETIC!!!!!!!! SO THE BELLMAN SUGGESTED I CHANGE IN THE SPA, WHICH IS A WAY BETTER IDEA BUT COMPLETELY RIDICOLOUS. THEY SUGGESTED A SMOKING SECTION ROOM WHEN I REQUESTED A NON SMOKING. BUT ALL THREE, WOMEN ROBBIE WEARS HUGE BLACK GLASSES SOME OTHER BLONDE GIRL AND A BRUNETTE DID NOT TELL ME TO DO THAT. ANYWAY, I WAS INTERESTED IN THE POOL PARTY AT THE GANSEVOORT ROOFTOP THE ONE IN PARK AVENUE AND NOBODY KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I EVEN WANTED TO BUY A TABLE BUT NO ONE KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT IT AND NO ONE REFERRED ME TO SOMEONE WHO KNEW. THEY ALL IGNORED MY REQUEST. LONG STORY SHORT DO NOT STAY HERE SAVE YOUR MONEY, STAY AT AXOR ACROSS THE STREET OR SOMEWHERE ELSE. STAY AWAY FROM HERE. ALSO THE ROOM I WAS IN WAS ABOUT $450 A NIGHT AND THE BATHROOM HAD SOME HORRIBLE CURTAIN IT WAS NOT EVEN MADE OF GLASS LIKE IF I WAS IN A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY. HORRIBLE VIEW FROM MY WINDOW. THE ROOFTOP POOL.....I LAID OUT IN THE SUN AND I ORDERED SUSHI AND FRIES AND THEY MADE ME GET UP AND EAT IT BECAUSE FOOD WAS NOT ALLOWED BY THE POOL. I HAVE NEVER EVER EVER EVER HEARD OF THIS RIDICULOUS THING! DO NOT STAY HERE YOU WILL REGRET IT. SO MANY ROOMS FOR A "FUN, PARTY" HOTEL!!!! FORGET GETTING INTO THE ROOFTOP PARTY AT NIGHT, AS A GUEST YOU CAN GO UP AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WANT BUT IT IS NOT EVEN WORTH GOING ITS EMPTY AND THE PEOPLE ARE TRASHYYYYYYYYYYYYY WORST EVER! ALSO, I REQUESTED A LATE CHECK OUT A MONTH AGO AND NO ONE HONORED IT. THE ROBBIE GIRL WITH THE HUGE BLACK GLASSES TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY A FEE IF I STAYED PAST 12PM!!!! THEN SHE ALLOWED ME TO STAY UNTIL 2PM BECAUSE HER "MANAGER" WHICH WAS A COMPLETE LIE SAID I COULD STAY UNTIL 2PM. YEA SURE!!! A HOUSEKEEPING LADY WAS BANGING ON MY DOOR SHE EVEN ENTERED TWICE!!!!! WHILE I WAS STILL SLEEPING AND IT WAS ONLY 1PM...THEN I HAD SOME OTHER PERSON CALL MY ROOM WAKING ME UP AGAIN!!!!! EVEN THOUGH THIS ROBBIE GIRL SAID I CAN STAY UNTIL 2PM...COMPLETELY ABSURD FOR THE AMOUNT OF MONEY I WASTED ON THIS STUPID PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!

This Hotel treated us like 3rd class citizens since we purchased through this website.

Arrival and checkin was quick and stressfree. We were allowed to settle right from the airport rather than have to wait. Comfortable beds, great water pressure in the showers, quality furniture.... Great experience, would suggest others to go!

The hotel was nice, but the rooms were small. The rooftop bar was fantastic, and the area was nice.
