The view was awesome, location was close to town. Got lots of exercise going up the steps. Breakfast was very good. Overall a very nice experience. Owners & staff friendly and helpful.

As others have written, there are many steps to climb. But, the view made it worth the climb, and who doesn't need a bit more exercise. Stayed one other night at Bunker Hill which was approximately the same cost, and it didn't begin to compare to the Galeon House. Access to down town shopping and restaurants is great.

The hotel is in an older almost historic building near the main town area of Charlotte Amalia. It is basic but clean and secure. A/C worked great, plenty of hot water, cable TV and a small fridge was in the room. It is within walking distance to the main shopping area and Yacht Haven Marina. Dollar buses run regularly nearby. The staff are super friendly and helpful!! Breakfast was good. There are lots of steps to navigate, but certainly not an issue for me. I would not hesitate to stay at Galleon House B&B again!

Like so many others, I just cannot say enough about the staff. Chris, Trish & Stephen are the genuine article. Friendly and eager to offer factual informtion about where to dine and shop. They steered us to a local pub/restaurant that they frequent when not on duty. We got to know our fellow guests at Galleon House and everyone could not have been more friendly... it was like an extension of friends and family. The breakfast is as good as everybody says. The rooms were clean and the views were great. The price is one of the best on St. Thomas, and having stayed at a couple of the other comparably priced inns on the island, I can safely say this one is head and shoulders above the rest. Yes, there are steps. I am in my mid 50's and and a bit stocky, but we never had any problem with carrying our bags or negotiating stairs. The rooms were VERY clean but a little dated, the A/C and fridge were cold and quiet. I read reviews about 'older tv' and I really think you need to re-think your priorities if you are traveling to USVI to watch televsion. If you are looking for bellhops, private beaches or over-priced 'boat drinks', then Galleon House might not be your cup of tea. If you are looking for a quaint,clean,fun place to enjoy St. Thomas, then by all means make Galleon House your choice for value and an insider's view of Virgin Islands. The proximity to downtown shopping and tourist attractions is paramount. A great place to relax, shop and make new friends. We NEVER felt worried and will stay with these good people as soon as we can. TIP: This place is perfect for those on a budget or if you're only going to be in St. Thomas for a day or two when traveling to St. John or British Virgin Isles.
