Like service (food, beverages, activities, room, etc). Did have a reservation problem with the front desk; we reserved a time to have dinner but when we arrived at the resturant there was no set reservation resulting in delaying dinner and prevented us from attending our later activity (show). Liked using the gym, pools, jacuzzi. Need one more jacuzzi though. Enjoyed the circus show. Wifi needs stronger reception...multiple delays...only accessible at bar. Did not venture away from hotel ecept for tours. Will return if price is right.

Other than the weather not beign so great during my stay. I would definitely recommend and cant wait to go back. Make sure you wake up early and make a reservation at Marco Polo Restaurant before you leave.

The hotel was very clean. We paid for an upgraded deluxe ocean view room and did not get it. We had a corner room that looked at the pool. If we wanted to see the ocean we had to lean over the balcony. We went to the front desk to tell them what happened and they wanted us to pay an additional $120 to upgrade us to a room we already paid for. This was very disappointing to me especially since it was my first time seeing the ocean. The maid service was awsume though. They always had something fun for us to see in our room after it was cleaned. The food was awsume and endless. The wait staff was the best I have ever had before. They made each meal very fun and exciting. The ocean was as blue as it can get. It was some of the most beautiful water I have seen! The employees to greet you and tell you about the hotel where annoying and would not take no for an answer for a time share. You would think in your own hotel they would leave you alone and just relax. All in all it was a good trip with just a few disappointments.

We reserved a deluxe ocean view room but on arrival found that we had a partial obstructed ocean view. We ask for another room since we paid for an upgrade and was told we would have to pay another $120 to upgrade. The people bar hopping got back at 1:30 each night and managed to wake us up every night. The consierge was not there to help with hotel amenities but to hassle you for a time share. My husband spent most of the week trying to avoid this very annoying man. The flip side of this experience was the staff is amazing, and the food is very good. You have alot of choices and will not go hungry. If anyone believes that the drinks are watered down then you seriously have a problem. The rooms are clean, in fact the entire hotel is very clean. The front desk personnel were the only ones never smiling but maybe thats because the hotel rooms are not as advertised and they have to hear people complain. Overall I would say the food and wait staff were the best part of this experience

Amination staff amazing. Bartenders are friendly. Had great times at the pool bar. Activities every night in lobby bar and bus organised to go to cancun clubs every night. The only negative point is that is hard to get places for the only one ordering restaurant. Buffets in ballroom are good though.

Overlall experience was good. Our flight was greatly delayed and we reached at midnight minus our baggage. The concierge does not provide any help in having a tooth brush or shaving stuff. So had to go without either until the baggage arrived. Eating places are fantastic. Plenty of swimming pools if you don't want to go to the sea. View is excellent with sea shore visible from every room window. Easy access to markets by bus and very useful facility for transporting you to the main road or marina. Saves lot of walking (climbing).

I went on vacation to GR Solaris with my parents and my boyfriend on Dec. 28th - Jan 3rd. The night before leaving for out vacation I read a few more reviews of this hotel and I was so nervous due to all of the things I read. Some past travelers wrote about the bad food or the staff not being friendly. But we had an amazing experience. Check in was a breeze the bell boys held our bags till our room was ready since we arrived around 10am. We were able to use the pools and have some breakfast as soon as arrived. After receiving our room keys we discovered our room to be prefect. We did not have an ocean view because I felt it was unnecessary to pay the extra money since we were never in the room. FOOD: The food was good for it being a pretty large resort. Most of the places were buffet style, but there was one restaurant, Marco Polo. We tried Marco Polo on the last night there and in our opinion it was a waste of time. After dinner we made our way up to the theater were we enjoyed the "Mexican Night". The buffet style food was fantastic and the show was incredible. STAFF: The staff was incredible. There are no words to describe how helpful they were and such hard workers. As soon as we finished eating from a plate a staff member was right there to remove it from out table. They deserve every tip everyone gave them. LOCATION: As far as location, my boyfriend and I wished the resort was closer to all of the bars such as Senior Frogs and CoCo Bongo. Other than that the beach was beautiful! OVERALL: One of the best vacations we have been on. We will certainly return to Cancun.

It's a smallish complex...not the Atlantis by any means. But it's airy and functional, and the staff does a good job of having activities for those of us who don't like laying on the beach all day long. Food wise, the Marco Polo is the best place to get anything resembling a great ambience for dinner; as far as food goes, it's all fresh and fun. We tipped with dollar bills whenever possible, and at times that really worked in our favor.

Safe, excellent service. Food fair, but plentiful. Diluted alcoholic beverages. Missed one day due to "overbooking" of the flight. Hotel would not refund the night we lost and would not let us check-in early the next day. I would give the resort an "as expected", no better, no worse.

The GR was a great place to get away from the cold weather. The food was great, buffets and Marco Polo were great food. All of the staff made the vacation very enjoyable. The activity staff made the days by the pool fun. The GR is a great place to take your next vacation.

Before I give the pros and cons, keep in mind that I have been to Cancun and/or Riviera Maya 5 or 6 times and my overall rating for this hotel is a 3.5 but will be perfect for some. That being said, this hotel is best suited for couples with young kids or without kids, not teenagers. Many planned activities exist separately for adults and for kids 4-10. Likely your teenagers will be exposed to the adult activities, which often involve drinking alcohol or adult content. There is a small game room with ping pong, a pool table, a couple arcade games and a foosball table. The swimming pools are nice but somewhat crowded and have a snack bar with basics (pizza, chips, hot dogs, fries etc). The beach is clean and currently has plenty of soft sand with room to spread out without being on top of others. The staff was all very friendly and attentive, including those working in the restaurants. Your personal food likes and dislikes will determine your opinion of the breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets. Kids and teens may have difficulties finding food they like other than basics - but that's likely the case in your house too! Be careful that your meats are cooked enough because some were definitely not. For those that want gourmet, this is not the place to be, except for the one formal dinner restaurant which requires reservations and appropriate attire including closed shoes of any kind for men (even tennis shoes qualify). Other than a few ice creams, dessert choices were limited and likely preferred by adults only. The room was adequate but TV channel choices are very limited. In our bathroom, a constant smell came from the overflow drain on the floor. The hotel has little grounds and is very close to hotels on both sides. The evening shows are entertaining but repeat too often for those staying more than 4 or 5 days. Again, for those with average expectations, this hotel will be just fine.

Good: weather, sea water, food /drink choices and services, friendly stuff (most of them), programs for small chilldren Bad: one front-desk clerk was rude and less service-oriented Terrible: bathroom smells, ants in room (due to very old building--i guess), and the condition of tennis court is horrible Suggestions: rent a car for excursion on your own--don't buy the programs at hotel. Bring enough cash Conclusion: not a bad hotel for a few days stay with kids

We loved our stay. Friendly people quick to meet any request. Our room was lovely and kept clean. The food was good and plenty. The evening shows were entertaining and professional. The wi fi was not dependable and only free in the bar/lounge although they had an Internet room where you could use their computers for a small fee. The temperature was nice, in the 70 s. It was windy all ten days and the surf was amazing. Too rough for me, but the beach is beautiful and you are only steps away. We went across the street and to the right and enjoyed the El Rey ruins. Then went across the street to the left, a hotel taxi goes on the hour if you prefer not to walk, to the marina where the hotel provides free kayaking and paddle boats on the lagoon. That was wonderful, too!

This was my first trip to Cancun. I strong suggest everyone reading this review that there are over 100 ALL-INCLUSIVE hotels right next to each other in cancun. DO NOT go to SOLARIS. The staff is rude and the managers are helpless. The food qualitty and options are "just ok" not many options. The restaurant manager (e.g. Jaime) was very rude and when we brought our disstisfaction to the manager at duty, Dennis, he said he can't help us do anything about it. So, even if you have to pay a little extra, save the hassle of dealing with rude staff...
