Fullerton Hotel Singapore (The)
5 out of 5

We arrived late and were given a room which was much below waht we expected. ( having stayed at 3 other hotels in Singapore on other occasions ) Mainly it was a smoking room and smelt. The view was over an internal courtyard.so the room was dark. Overall I would guess one of the worst rooms the hotel had to offer. So we politely asked if they would move us, we were out all day so there was no great hurry. Yes they did move us. To a front of hotel room on the 8th floor overlooking the bay, probably one of the best in the hotel. Not what we were expectingm but it certainly made the holiday

IT WAS A SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY STAYING AT THE FULLERTON (THE OLD POST OFFICE BUILDING) AS MY PARENTS WERE UK EXPATRIATES IN SINGAPORE PRE-WAR AND I WAS BORN AND EVACUATED FROM THERE PRIOR TO THE JAPANESE OCCUPATION. THE CONVERSION INTO A HOTEL HAS BEEN DONE WITH GREAT TASTE AND REMEMBRANCE OF THE PAST. THE ACCOMMODATION AND SERVICE WAS OUTSTANDING BUT THEN THAT'S SINGAPORE FOR YOU. THE ONLY SLIGHT DISCOMFORT WAS THE PRESENCE OF COCKROACHS ON THE BALCONY OF THE QUAY SIDE ROOM WHICH WAS A DISTRACTION FROM THE GREAT VIEW. MIND YOU, HAVING MENTIONED THE COCKROACH PROBLEM AT CHECK-OUT, I GOT THE IMPRESSION THAT THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED BEFORE I REACHED THE FRONT DOOR. ALSO SOME FORM OF ELEVATED TABLE/SEATING ARRANGEMENT WOULD HAVE HELPED ENJOY THE FIREWORKS AND LASER LIGHTING DISPLAYS IN THE EVENING. NOT THAT WE SAW ANY ONE ELSE USING THE BALCONIES WHICH WAS PROBABLY DUE TO THE GREAT CONTRAST BETWEEN THE INTERNAL AIR-CONDITIONING AND THE HOT/HEAVY/HUMID OUTDOOR CONDITIONS WHICH EXIST ON THE EQUATOR. NORMALLY, THIS HOTEL WOULD HAVE BEEN BEYOND MY PRICE RANGE, AS WAS THE COST OF THE IN-HOUSE EATERIES AND BARS. FOR THE SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY IT WAS A PLEASURE NOT TO BE MISSED AND, IF YOU CAN RAISE THE FUNDS JUST ONCE, IT IS DEFINITELY WORTH THE SPLURGE. IAN CRUICKSHANK

great service! Got a free upgrade as the quay room was full. Big bathroom. No view in the room. Spacious but no view at all. Small pool and not really kids friendly.

Spectacular internal appearance, fine service at this admittedly pricey hotel is worth it if you can afford it. In Singapore it already has the reputation as the place where locals go to be seen. The gym facilities are a little sparse.

Fullerton hotel is the best one I have ever visited in Singapore. Before I stayed Ritz Carlton (Also , this was great !) But Fullerton is Singapore origin hotel and cost performance is better than others.

Again our stay was enjoyable (especially the un-solicited upgrade). A small point of annoyance was the below standard of internet access via TV and keyboard. The "mouse" button just doesn''t make it as a mouse, but the hotel cheerfully refunded our internet access charges. Top marks for that! Don''t miss the Sunday Brunch - make sure you book ahead.

I really feel here is the best quality hotel in Singapore and can strongly recommend you to stay at Fullerton, even if you can stay only one day. If you can stay longer, you can spent greater relaxing days. The room interiors are enough, bright, simple and beautiful to make us relax. Bath room is clean, roomy and very modern design, however shower room does not drain well. Staff attitude is fantastic I''ve never seen. Every staff is very smart & friendly and always give us unnoticeable (very natural!) services.

Superb business style hotel which I will most certainly recommend to friends and also use again myself. However some rooms have restricted or non-existent external views which some may find disappointing.

Whilst primarily a business hotel, The Fullerton is an excellent choice for leisure travellers as you have the place to yourselves during the day, including the beautiful (albeit small) pool. Mini bar and room service prices are extortionate, but prices in the resturants and bars are reasonable.

Original booking was for one evening, and we were upgraded, resulting in us staying for two nights - I was very impressed with the hotel making the effort to provide an upgrade. Significantly nicer than the five star chain hotels that dominate Singapore (although TV choices very limited). Whilst not as convenient for Orchard Road shopping, it is only a twenty minute walk or five minute taxi or MRT ride away.

The menu degustation at Jade is excellent. Breakfast overlooking Boat Quay is fantastic, as is the food and the tropical fruit drinks. One of the best hotels I have stayed in in South East Asia. My girlfriend wants to live in the Fullerton.
