Post-impressionist master Toulouse-Lautrec best captured the allure and decadence of the legendary cabaret in a series of prints and illustrations that still grace shop windows in the infamous quartier. While the bohemian romance of Lautrec’s Paris is no more - it lives on in museums, college dorms and the odd Hollywood musical - the iconic red windmill on Boulevard de Clichy burns brightly still. The Moulin Rouge cranks out elaborate cabaret theatre with the same panache and over-the-top bravura as it did before the first curtain call more than a century ago.

Revues at the Moulin Rouge cost millions of Euros to stage, require hundreds of performers and change every few years in harmony with “l'aire du temps”.
