Le Touquet Hotels

One of the most prominent destinations in Pas-de-Calais and indeed, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, is the handsome commune of Le Touquet-Paris-Plage. With a small populace of close to 5,000 people, the town is first and foremost, a legacy seaside resort. Le Touquet first made waves as a haunt for the aristocracy and wealthy in the late 19^th century. Back then, the commune was primarily a destination for the English upper crust, being a short ferry hop across the English Channel from Eastbourne. That custom did not let up after the turn of the century, when the likes of H.G. Wells and Noël Coward were patrons of Le Touquet. Throughout the flamboyant interwar period, Le Touquet’s fashionable allure gave rise to the “Paris by the Sea” nickname, a moniker that endures in French as Paris-Plage. For contemporary visitors, Le Touquet’s heritage architecture and seaside charisma still form the basis for a superb Pas-de-Calais holiday.
