Geneva Region Hotels

Generous Geneva Region
While the city of Geneva is a modern economic and cultural centre, the surrounding region is positively saturated with ancient ruins and natural charm – all tied up in one very sophisticated food scene.
The Roman town of Helvetia occupied the area from the first century CE, and its legacy forms much of the Geneva region’s appeal. So whether you’re testing out the acoustics in the Roman Amphitheatreor letting your imagination run wild at the ancient Forum, there’s no escaping its historical weight.
If Michelin stars, Roman ruins, dazzling lakes and quaint villages sound like your cup of Swiss hot chocolate, get out of Geneva and explore the surrounding region. Towns like Avenches, Chexbres, Lutry, Morges andVilleneuvemake up a cluster of tourist gems, and their old-world charm is in sharp contrast to the cashed-up contemporary feel of Geneva proper.
Geneva Region’s Top 10

Get a little tipsy at the Neuchâtel Wine Festival in September as the local vineyards show their stuff.
When To Go
- Summer in the Geneva Region is breathtakingly beautiful, with temperatures warm but not unbearably hot – unlike other European tourist spots.
- Spring is a great time to visit if you’re looking to avoid the crowds, as temperatures remain fairly mild.
- Winter is brisk, but much warmer than other parts of Switzerland, with temperatures only dropping to around freezing.
Getting Around
