For a theatrical hit, head to Deauville-Trouville in July for the Literature, Bridge Between the Arts Festival.
Keep your French dictionary handy for the Off-Courts Festival in early September. This short-film fiesta is one of Trouville’s biggest boasts.
If you’re more of a mainstream moviegoer, hit up the annual Festival du Cinema Americain in September.
Soak up sunshine and check out the beautiful women running besides the sea at The Trouvillaise in September.
All of Normandy celebrates the Autumn Festival in November. In Deauville-Trouville, over 60 performances make leaf-covered streets a lot more exciting.
WHEN TO GO
- From November to March, Deauville-Trouville is decidedly chilly – averaging around 5ºC (41ºF).
- Autumn and spring are mild and pleasant.
- Summer is peak tourist season – better weather, but vastly more visitors.
GETTING AROUND
- The train is a great way of getting along the coast.
- Buses do run in town, but services are infrequent and not that extensive.
- The best way to both get around and soak up the atmosphere is to walk!
