Fosshotel Baron Reykjavik Guest Reviews
The hotel is very nice: great view of bay and mountains from the window, a short walk (at most fifteen minutes) from downtown, a 24 hour grocery store and a bank to change money right around the corner. The staff--Katrin in particular--is absolutely incredible. They organized my bus ride to the Blue Lagoon (even happily changing my pickup time twice as my plans changed) and reserved a car for me to rent. They also had great advice about what to do and what to see. I stayed in another hotel on my last night in Iceland. It cost twice as much as FossHotel Baron, but it just couldn't compare.

Great hotel, lovely rooms with character. Furnished to reflect the historical era of the hotel. Staff were very helpful, breakfast was good.

Close enough to the center of town and pretty good value considering how expensive iceland is.

Given the chain affiliation and star rating I was expecting a little more. Furniture, decor, and carpet need updating; lobby and overall ambience very bland. It does come en suite, though, and the location is city center so I could do with the lack of upkeep. Front desk persons were young, hip type, whom although pleasant and accommodating weren't necessarily jumping out of their seats for service. Overall, decent hotel for the discounted price I received.
