Fiesta Americana Cozumel - All Inclusive Guest Reviews
My fiance and I just got back from 4 nights at the Fiesta Americana Cozumel. While we had a good time and believe we got a good value for what we paid, we would probably not go back. The hotel is more outdated than it shows in the photos. The roof of the main building is falling down a bit in parts and you can tell some things have several coats of paint on them having been repainted SO many times. We rented a Tropical Casita and it was spacious as the picture suggested. It was very musty and all of our clothes reeked of that mustiness after we got home. If you are at all afraid of snakes, large black hairy spiders or iguanas, I would not recommend this room selection as we encountered all of these right outside of our room and on our balcony during our stay. We liked that there were ceiling fans and a screen door to the balcony so you didn't have to run the AC nonstop. Our bathtub/shower left a LOT to be desired. It's like a cave - curved with gray tiles that show their age. Housekeeping knocked on our door without fail by 9:30 am each day. We like to sleep in on vacation so this was unfortunate. They always agreed to come back later when asked, but it still woke us up. We weren't provided with a do not disturb sign - that would have been nice. I'm not sure if it was because we were there during the holidays, but there were a LOT of kids there ranging from newborn to teenager. They pretty much take over the pool, playing games, yelling and splashing around as kids do. If you're looking for a relaxing adult vacation where you can get some peace and quiet by the pool, this would not be the location for you. It was annoying at times, but for the most part we were able to enjoy ourselves at the pool. The food is challenging. By the 2nd to last day of the trip we finally figured out that they will make eggs to order for you at breakfast. No one really explains things to you when you get to the resort so we were left to ourselves to figure out where each meal was served. You get a list of the hours of the meals available at check-in, but not their locations. There was definitely variety in the meals for lunch and dinner (not so much for breakfast) although none of it was of a very high quality. We had a sandwich from the deli one day and that was pretty good. The food made my fiance's stomach upset for about the first 3 days of the trip, unfortunately. Room service was not good, although it did come quickly. The staff was all very friendly, some much more than others. We rented scooters through the concierge one day and drove around the island. It cost us about $100 total for each of us to have a scooter for a day. That was by far the most enjoyable day of our trip. The island is far more rugged than I would have guessed. On our scooter adventure we stopped by a couple of different beaches and had cervezas. We also had a late lunch and cocktail at Coconuts, which was the highlight of our trip. Such a fun place! We learned after renting the scooters that if you want to do any excursions you need to be able to pay in cash. They just don't really do credit cards there, which is understandable - its Mexico.

I have stayed at FA many many times and I will continue to stay here on my dive trips to the island. The friendly caring staff is like family by now. Its a great spot as it is not far from the numerous dive sites. Pedro, Sergio, Xavier and front desk staff are always there to help in any way they can. As a solo traveler they are watching out for me and truly care. The hotel is immaculate as are the rooms. My only suggestion is they MUST do something about the food. Rarely was any thing hot. The only hot food was when it was cooked individually for you on the grill. The soups (when hot) were excellent as were the pasteries. The coffee shop was a nice added touch. You will never go hungry and always find something to enjoy amongst the many choices. The waiters was friendly too and tried very hard to please. All in all it was a great trip once again.

I enjoyed every minute of my 4 night stay, first week in December, 2011. Food was excellent and there was lots of variety. Room was nice and clean and the staff kept it that way. King bed was comfortable and I slept great. Snorkeled every day with a shorty wet suit because the water was a little cool for me when the sun wasn't right overhead. Without exception, everyone I talked to - staff or guest - was friendly. Got to practice my Spanish. Very pleasant stay and a good first impression of Cozumel.

This was our third vacation at the First Americana Cozumel. We had such a wonderful time. The snorkeling at the hotel is fabulous. The meals are mostly buffet style, but very palatable. For those looking for upscale accommodations with fine dinning, go elsewhere. This hotel is for value shoppers who are looking to have a fun time and do a lot of diving and snorkeling. We love it here because it is away from town and the cruise boats, but not so far that it is a burden to get anywhere on the island quickly. We have been to most of the hotels in Cozumel and when we return we will again stay at the Fiesta.

I booked the hotel despite some bad reviews mainly due to the great price but expecting to be a little dissapointed on arrival. I was pleasently suprised, the hotel is quiet traditional mexican in style not like the major identical chain hotels where you could be anywhere in the world. The staff couldnt have been friendlier or more welcoming. The food was great with lots of variety, especialy in 'Reef' which had fantastic traditional mexican food and great steaks. The drinks were great all main brand and not watered down as I have experienced in other all inclusive resorts. My only complaint with the bars is that there was no drink/cocktail list, sometimes its hard to decide what you want without a little inspiration. Overall had a great stay despite the weather, I would definatly stay here again.
