Location is perfect. Just be in Hotel before 1:00 am. Room extrememly small. Hotel really needs to be updated. Sink is outside of bathroom. Has a smell to entire hotel. Staff is extremely nice.

-Good location-We (My friend and I) reserved two rooms. My friend called the hotel so that we can get adjacent rooms. When he called, the person who answered the phone said that he had to call on the day of the arrival. When I called on the day of the arrival, I was told that I should have called much earlier. I was very annoyed by this answer: however, when we arrived at the hotel, the person at the front desk, [...], managed to give us the adjacent rooms from the second day. He was very helpful. If you need help or information, it is better to call a couple of time and talk to different person.

The Vintage Court is centrally located between Union Square and Chinatown. It's also right off the 30 and the Cable Car line, making for an easy trip down to Fisherman's Wharf. You can easily walk to Chinatown and Union Square (4-5 blocks), with AT&T Park (about 25-30 minutes) being a reasonable walk as well. The location, coupled with the price are enough reason to stay there, but there's more too. The staff was extremely helpful in recommending activities around the city. My girlfriend and I did a tour of Napa/Sonoma one morning, and while we were waiting for our bus to pick us up, one of the employees went out of his way to take an interest in us, ask what we had planned, and then provide us with recommendations and routes around the city. It may be a small gesture, but that he volunteered this information and sought us out rather than waiting for us to go ask him or anything of the sort was very nice. Each night from 5-6pm, the hotel has a complimentary wine hour in which they put out free bottles of wine for their guests to consume. The rooms are small, but plenty comfortable with HD TVs and cable. The bathrooms are small as well and most rooms don't have much of a view, but these aren't things I get hung up on. I'm not vacationing to see my hotel room, I care about seeing the city. The bed was comfortable; my one complaint about the room would be the pillows were awful. Bring one of your own, unless you don't mind incredibly small, flimsy down pillows (my girlfriend was fine, but I need more neck support when I sleep). The hotel doesn't have a breakfast but does have free coffee downstairs and there are plenty of places to eat within a block's distance on foot, so while it's an inconvenience it's nothing that would prevent me from staying there again. We bought some juice, fruit, and granola bars for right when we woke up, and sought out some of the area's restaurants when we wanted breakfast. The last downside is again minor, but if you want to use a computer/printer it costs $5 for 20 minutes of use. We had to print tickets to the Giants game, so if you need something like that do it ahead of time. Small gripe in an overall positive experience though. Overall, the Vintage Court's price, location, service, and wine hour make it one of the best deals in San Francisco. If we come back, I'll barely even bother looking at other hotels. Barring a drastic pricing change, this is where we'll be staying again.

Great location near (but not next to) cable cars, half-way up Nob Hill. Rooms need a bit of a refreshment / redecoration and reception area very poky: not sure what they imagine a European hotel is like if this is "European-style". Perfectly serviceable, though.

The location was good and central. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we got an exception rate for it's location. There was renovations going on in the lobby that did not hinder our stay - this kind of work is understandably required at times. Our only complaint was the stintch is our room - smelled like dead rodents and the overall clenliness was to be desired. We sacraficed that for the location and price.

Location of this hotel was excellent, but unfortunately the only thing in it's favour. Was initially allocated a 'dingy musty smelling' room overlooking an alley. The one helpful staff member changed our room to a more plesant looking one which had the problem of an overflowing toilet - we were given an armfull of old torn up towels to mop the floor with ourselves! Felt little info given about facilities and was overpriced, charged 8.95 for 24hrs wi fi, no coffee making facilities in room and as restaurant was closed it would have been helpful. If you like free wine tasting, go round the block to the Carlton on Sutter, is friendly and atmospheric, their friendly staff welcomed us even though we weren't staying this time round! Felt the Vintage hotel's general atmosphere was all a bit 'stuffy'

The hotel was nice, and if requested housekeeping would come up to clean the room. It is in an excellent location, just steps away from the cable car to union square and fishermans wharf. Chinatown is of walking dsitance. Room had limited facilities (no tea or coffee) and the fridge was not really working. However the bed was made, as if you were staying in a 5 star hotel, and quite comfortable. Bathroom was okay (poor ventilation due to lack of fan), and beginning to show its age. People at the front desk are helpful with any queries about the city.

Great location and good value. Would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in San Francisco. Room had a musty smell that wasn't too bad. Evening wine tastings were very good.

Tremendous location a half block from the cable cars, very helpful and friendly staff, lovely evening wine reception. We'll likely be back the next time we're in SF.

Clean, close to Union Square, China Town and the Financial District, the staff was friendly and helpful. The room was nothing special and the windows looked over an enclosed rooftop, but the bathroom was larger than most SF hotels on Union Square. The bath towels were teeny and very thin, but the shower head was like standing under a waterfall! Very nice! What the heck was the green pyramid pillow that mystically appeared on our bed after maid service?!? Street parking was difficult, but not impossible.

Excellent and friendly hotel, very good location. Small minus for the cold rooms when I visited in the winter. Breakfast OK for the price range, coffee and plastic-embedded muffins...

My husband & I came to this hotel for the first time. The location is fantastic, the hotel is old and you can smell it in the room, but it's not that bad & you get use to it. The front desk service is quite good but depends on who is there. The front desk manager is very helpful & smiling all the time so it gives you a good feeling. The cleaning service in the room wasn't that great, everyday they forgot something else to put or change. The wine reception is cool, we got the chance to meet people from all over the world. All together, I think we'll return to this hotel on the next time in San Francisco.

The Vintage Court was perfectly located in San Francisco - just a short stroll from Union Square and Chinatown. Staff were very friendly and helpful in recommending tours and restuarants. The daily wine tasting evenings was wonderful for winding down after a long day of sightseeing and shopping. I definitely will return to this hotel on future visits.

It's a small lovely hotel that locate in a wonderful location. It's near everything - good restaurants, bars, Shopping Mall, Department Store, muni bus stop, cable car stop, BART station, Market Rd is a walking distant where you can catch the cable car at the beginning of the route and watch the cable car men wheeling the cable car around. The hotel staff are very helpful and the hotel offer wine testing at the lobby every evening between 5-6 pm. We enjoyed our stay in San Francisco and we will stay at this hotel again.
