Emperador Hotel Madrid
4 out of 5

The hotel is well-located and rooms are expansive, clean and comfortable. The reception staff were efficient and the general assistant (janitor) was not only extremely helpful, his friendly manner made our stay even more enjoyable. The only criticism I could make was that the room cleaning staff were erratic in their service and inattentive to detail - forgot soap, forgot towells, forgot to replace toilet paper - again, these were minor problems, quickly resolved by other staff. We would stay again.

This hotel is in a great location and the rooms are very well furnished. The reception staff are a bit disinterested and off handed. Although I phoned 3 weeks before arrival to confirm a double booking, we still ended up with twin beds. After complaining we were changed next day.Pool is good. breakfast is expensive 21 Euro, but there are plenty of cheaper options nearby. Hotel is within walking distance of all the major attractions of Madrid. I would stay here again if visiting Madrid

Nice grand old hotel in a great location. Nice room, chandelier over the bed! CNN wasn't working and the service at breakfast (which was expensive but good buffet selection) was a bit offhand...

A really nice experience; helpful, friendly staff and a fine, comfortable (and quiet!) room right in the heart of the city. Everything worked well; nice bathroom with good bath/shower (Piping hot water!); room kept spotlessly clean. Metro (San Domingo) right outside the entrance (30 mins/€2 to the Airport) and easy strolling distances to all the major city centre attractions. Well recommended!

Shower was poor for a 4-star hotel and leisure facilities didn't quite match up to expectations, but overall a favourable outcome and we'd use it again if we are in Madrid.

Hotel was in a great position - right on the main street and walking distance to a lot of sights. Room was good size, clean and quiet. Rooftop pool area was huge and really nice - didn't even have to take your own towel as that was supplied there. Brilliant place to relax after a hard day sightseeing!

The hotel was great. The Roof Garden and Pool was a great bonus and a chance to relax and catch the sun in a busy city. The staff were very helpful when we had an emergency - we left our car keys in the hotel room when we checked out and they found them and sent them to the airport in a taxi for us!

very good staff, helpful and polite. The hotel is in a great location for 1st timers in Madrid and acts as a great base for exploring the city centre. The room was nothing special and for the price i know there is much better to be found. I also did not appreciate being charged for internet use.

We have stay in Madrid at Hotel Emperador for three nights in August 2008. We booked for a double room and extra bed for a 7 years old kid, but we had with us the other kid too, 5 years old, and the reception stuff offered us a Club room, with no extra charge, which was very kind. The room was spacious. The furniture is a little old, but well maintained, and the overall looked well. The bath is large, clean and nice decorated. The breakfast was ok but not very rich, the vegetables (tomatos, etc) missing totally. Although I got tomatoes after I asked a waiter for. Minibar filled with lot of stuff, but we couldn't find the price list so avoided to use it. It proved very expensive, one night we used two bottles of plain water which costs about 10-12 euros (don't remember exactly). The pool on the roof very nice too, but the pool bar very expensive too (an orange and a tomato juice costs 16 euros). But they offered free peanuts and some other snaks.

The Emperador ius well located and the public areas are very plush. We had a `Club Room` which turned out to be very small and expensive for what it was. The Tea/Coffee tray was missing and never materialised despite complaints. the `Mini Bar` in our room was really expensive aand the price list was missing so we had two fruit juices and a bottle of water for which we were charged 16€ and we only used the `Mini Bar` because the other in room catering facilities were missing. We have stayed all over the world and due to the room sizes and facilities I would rate the Emperador very poor value.

The location of this hotel is excellent - extremely central. Staff were very courteous and helpful. The rooms were small but very clean. The rooftop garden and pool are lovely although the drinks and food up there are quite expensive.

The employees at the front desk were awesome! Spoke both English and Spanish. Plus the hotel location was right across from the Metro. Highly recommended for downtown Madrid.
