Embassy Suites San Antonio - Nw I-10

This hotel is rather old and needs some updating. First off we arrived after 4pm (checkin) and had to wait over 30 minutes for our room, which we had booked a non smoking king. When we finally got our room it wreaked of cigarette smoke, it was really bad. The smell was there the entire week. We also noticed a few days that the room wasn't really cleaned by maid staff but later in the week it was done much better. The pool area is very small, indoors and always crowded. The food on the buffet is just ok, not a lot of variety and the breads seem a little dry and/or stale. The cleaning staff (guy who buses tables) at breakfast is kind of agressive and very loud. The best part of this hotel for us was Chris the bartender at the managers reception, he was very nice to us and probably the best experience with the staff that we had. The day before checkout we requested the free airport shuttle and I told the front desk that we had an 8:30am flight, they said the shuttle starts at 7am and it would be plenty of time, to just come down at 6:45 and we would be fine. We checked out and were in the lobby ready at 6:45 and they told us they were waiting on the shuttle driver to show up. At 7 we asked again, at 7:15 my husband informed them that we had an 8:30 flight that we were now scared we were going to miss, so they called us a cab. We almost missed our flight, when we got to the airport they were closing our flight but we were able to make it. On a good note the hotel did cover the cost of the cab. Overall, I would say there are a lot of improvements this hotel could make. The postivies were, the bed was comfortable, and the shower had nice water pressure, and the bartender was very helpful and friendly....that's about it for the positives
