We've been to a lot of different resorts but nothing like this one. Island is small and poor, therefore everything on it is the same way. Hotel was little and lobby has an average design. Rooms were big however the smell in the room was horrible, the pillows were stinky and the restroom did not smell good as well. I was amazed and pleased with the staff, very nice and pleasant and it would be OK to just swim and relax to except that food was horrible. No decent fish or meat dish. It felt like the cook does not have a taste or does not have any seasonings in the kitchen. Moreover I am used to seafood and a great salad bar. Everything was greasy and fried. I would definetely recommend not to stay in the hotel and I would not go back either. Poor entertainment. Island is very windy, get ready. Great swimming experience, warm and colorful.

Only two restaurants serving the same menu, but the food and service are delightful. Menu service is available in the buffet restaurant, the pool, the beach and in the room. I recommend the churizo and cheese omelet in the morning, fajitas for lunch, the breaded fish (fresher than you can imagine) for dinner, and call room service for a club sandwich and nachos if you need a snack later.

This was our 3rd and last visit here. The food needs alot of help. And every machine in the fitness room was broke and noone would put and out of order signs on them. Nice staff but definitely need to step up their game. We knew it was no 5 star but , the snorkeling in front of the hotel is great so we decided to try it again. Beds the worst we have ever had not even kidding. And never had towels? Couldnt take coffee cups or pot to room to enjoy. The workers are very hard workers and loved Alma the waitstaff.

The staff was very good. The location was also very good as it's close to San Miguel de Cozumel. Nice beach front with decent snorkeling off the beach. The rooms were just OK, nothing fancy. However the bed was the hardest bed I've ever suffered through sleeping on!! Having a chronic back problem from an injury, I was miserable every night and could barely get any sleep. Perhaps if the pillows hadn't been just as hard as the bed I might have slept a little better!! Even after I had a foam topper put on the bed, it was still like sleeping on a brick.. The food at the buffet was just ok, actually a lot of it was quite awful. However, the A la Carte resturant was very good and the service was great.. Just be sure to make your reservations early each morning!! I'm not sure what it was that bite me on the beach but I got about 100 bites that looked like fire ant blisters and itched something awful for several days even after I returned home.. I've been to several resorts on Cozumel and this is the first time I was bitten by anything down there.. Also, no idea why the guests at this resort were so rude to go out at 6am and put a towel on the lounge chairs but not even use them until well after noon, if at all!! This was extremely rude and I have never seen this at any other resort anywhere I've been before!! I mean really.. If you aren't using the lounge chair why not let another guest use it?? Most days 75% of the chairs had no one in them , just a towel in case they wanted to use it later!! RUDE, RUDE, RUDE!!! Never again!! I'll go back to Allegro or Iberostar next year..

You will love the staff here, they're very attentive. The food is okay, and I mean that in a good way. The food will never be great in an all-you-can-eat situation, but you will definitely find something you like. Perfect for breakfast and lunch. You should eat dinner out occasionally. Margarittaville was great! I loved the pool and beach area at this place. It was the best snorkeling I've ever seen from a motel beach. Lots of fish, and look for the sunken statue. It is a little bit rocky, I recommend getting in and out at the northern pier. After you climb down off the big rock there, it's really sandy. If you like walking on a nice sandy beach just walk north. To the south is more rocky, but there are cool pools of water within the rocks and you can see a great sunset. On the down side, there were too few tiki hut umbrellas. You have to get up at 6am to snag one. Overall, I loved it.

The hotel had a very nice setting and a nice sized beach. There were lots of staff everywhere and they were always very attentive to your needs. There are two main restaurants- the buffet one and the one you need to make reservations for (you need to get in line by 7:30 am during peak times for reservations) We only ate at the a la carte restaurant once- the selection at the buffet was enough that we could each find something we liked. The wait staff was great- almost too good as they cleared things away when we left to get additional food. There was always food somewhere to be had along with drinks. We stayed in the older section of the hotel- the rooms were nice size, very clean although dated. They had a problem with water pumps and several nights the pipes banged all night which was very annoying. There are no clocks- so bring one if you like to have one. The beds were actually pretty comfortable. The kids (ages 19/15) enjoyed the activities they had at the resort, so we only took two excursions out and the rest of the time stayed put. They played volleyball, mini-golf and hung out with other teens at the activity center where they had ping-pong, billiards, and foosball. All in all a good place- when we go to an all-inclusive I don't expect the food to be over the top gourmet or the drinks to be top-notch- but if it's plentiful and decent you are getting your money's worth- and it was here.

We stayed here from 12/15/2011 until 12/22/2011.The advertised activities never happened, we had to hound them every day for anything out of the animation crew. The food was terrible except one day when a Higher ranking manager was there and everybody was jumping through hoops for his family and him. When we tried to get a cancellation for the remainder of our time after the first day being so bad, we were told if ok'd by booking agent it they would, booking agent told us on the 3rd day that the hotel wouldn't refund any portion, so we were stuck, bad food, no activities, I should have just lost my remaining money and went elsewhere.... Worst place I have ever been.

In the past 6 yrs I have stayed at the elcozumeleno 6 times. This past trip just reinforced to me that I will stay there again. I have stayed at several other hotels also. The cleanliness of the resort and friendliness of all staff are superb. The food was better than last time I was there. Snorkeling was o.k. For families with small children and teenagers it is the best value. Food is available for them at all times. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We had a great trip at the Coz ... just like we did summer of 2010!! Great setting and snorkling, excellent staff, and comfortable resort. They need to upgrade a bit, but we had an excellent vaca =) It would be nice to get a larger variety of beer and liquors (draft Dos Equis gets old), better quality wine, and real glasses rather that little plastic cups, but this by no means impaired our good times. Pool was cold =( but the ocean was great!!! The buffet was hit and miss, but we always found edible stuff. The resevation restaurant was delicious... and we did venture out to eat and drink several times. I would recommend this hotel, no prob!!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here for our honeymoon. It's located away from all the hustle and bustle of downtown but it's not too far away either, about $7 one way for a taxi. The beach area isn't huge but nice enough and they have two great pool areas which are very relaxing. The staff was great and my husband became good friends with some of the bartenders-which made for some great drinks. The food was pretty good as well. The buffets usually had some main staples everyday but other than that they would switch it up. The reservation restaurant was really good as well, service a bit slow, but the food was excellent! They would change the menu at least every other day. If you book any activities go though the travel agent at the hotel instead of meeting with the other random agents. We booked all of our activities through the hotel’s agent which worked out really well because he was there almost every day so if we had questions he was there or would ask about our trips, unlike the other agents who you only saw once when booking your activity. It was also nice that they had activities during the day such as dancing lessons, making friendship bracelets, Spanish lessons, bingo, trivia, or beach volleyball that you could participate in. Also, at night they would have a movie or cultural show. My one complaint would be that the beds were very stiff.

Location and staff are excellent. Themed evening shows were presented for entertainment every week night. Low point was the food. Generally it was the same most nights and tasteless. Bar drinks available are very limited and you can probably count on one hand.

The hotel is VERY nice! I loved the staff over at the Cozumeleño, they were super thoughtful and the service was great! The menu at the main restaurant was a little tiring, they only change the manu every so many days, we ate the same food every single day of our stay.. Don't get me wrong, it was GREAT food, but just eating the exact same thing every single day was a little boring.. They do have one restaurant were you need tu make reservation and dress properly for dinner, and that place is really worth it! we enjoyed a lot eating there! Overall the place is great! I'd love to go again to Cozumel and stay at the cozumeleno, the staff really makes everybody fall in love with the hotel.. and the beach is perfect! I loved doing snorkel there! :) I have to say though, that the cozumeleno is a very family-oriented hotel, is perfect for families with small children because they offer a lot of activities for kids.

The weather was perfect. The staff is always there to serve and ensure that your stay is wonderful. The food is average. The buffet does not vary much. The snorkeling is great right off the beach. The coral is beginning to grow back. Wonderful to see. It is easy to get to town from the front of the hotel.

It was our first time at this resort and we had heard mixed reviews. I am so glad I experienced it first hand. The hotel is lovely and is very well maintained. The staff were almost too good to be true. They were there to assist us with our every need and made us feel like family. The activity staff went the extra mile to keep us entertained. I celebrated my birthday while there and they gave me a gift, sang happy birthday to me and had a special dessert in my honor. It was such a great vacation that we plan to return. The only down side was the ATM wasnt working and getting US dollars was difficult. We know how to handle this next time and that will not keep us from going back. Thanks to everyone at this resort and thank you Cheap Tickets.
