Quality Quito

Peer through the volcanic peaks encircling the Andean valley and you will discover Quito, a city filled with colonial grandeur and natural tranquillity. 10. Casa de la Cultura Like a patchwork quilt of local artists, this great collection is free to see.

5. Itchimbia Cultural Complex Watch the light fade from Quito’s old churches as the sun disappears behind the mountainside at this hilly park.

9. Mitad del Mundo Just outside town is where you will literally find the middle of the world… or at least where it was proven that the Earth is in fact a sphere. A very interesting visit.

4. Museo Mindalae From the Andes to the Amazon, this museum showcases the variety of Ecuadorian culture.

8. La Vírgen del Panecillo Head to the top of El Panecillo and marvel at the masterful winged statue of the Virgin Mary.

7. Capilla del Hombre Home to the huge canvases of the ‘Latin American Man’ by Ecuador’s renowned contemporary artist Oswaldo Guayasamin.
