It's not the hotel's fault that they are located on the 'main drag' (too much traffic). I specifically asked my agent to find a hotel with an open whirlpool/pool either in or outdoors. When we got to this one, they said their whirlpool was closed. The whole previous week we stayed at hotels and everyone else's hottub/pool was open. We would have picked a 'cheaper' hotel if we knew we would not have the option of a tub and pool.

Do Not expext anything for breakfast other than some old pieces of bread and old coffee. No milk or juice provided. Also was complained by the staff when asked for a couple of plastic forks when checked in. Not worth the value!

Unfriendly staff at Econolodge Monterey, CA. Was complained when asked for a couple of forks when checked in. Very impolite.

Staff was nice and the room was clean. The breakfast could have had more options. The location is close to everything you need to do in Monterey. Would stay there again.

Nice building with flowers, rooms very small but clean. Nothing special at all, but very good price for a comfortable stay very close to everything in Monterey. Only strange thing: they charge you 2 USD/day for the safe and yo can get the money back (it that works.....) if yoz don't use the safe (How will the know...?)

I only needed the room for one night and was pleasantly surprised at how clean the room was and how comfortable the bed was. Even though the hotel was full, I didn't hear any noise coming from the surrounding rooms which I was grateful for. The free continental breakfast left something to be desired but it was ok. The staff was very nice & helpful. I would definately stay here again.

I tried to book three rooms for us. The system will not let me book three rooms at a time and does not even tell me that I have to book one room at a time. I was able to book one room however but will not allow me to book second or third room. I called your toll free number who tried to book for me and he could not book rooms for me either. I then went on Price line and was able to book multiple rooms in one attempt. I recommend that you consider modifying your web site to allow multiple rooms booking and if not atleast display a message to customer if they could not. As you may see in this case you lost my business for two rooms since I had to book it through Price line. I would have preferred to use you as I have used your services before in booking rooms in Spain (Last November) Thanks Shashi Panat

Good: Manager, flowers in front, heater worked, safe Bad: Permitted 36 hour rave directly behind my room at fairground afforded me NO sleep. Bathroom door didn't close, room smelled like cat spray, one meter square hole in ceiling being unprofessionally repaired and unpainted and fresh toxin smell in the first room offered.

What we did:snorkeling at Lover's Point, kayaking with Monterey Bay Kayaks, MBAQ (5 star destination...do not miss it), shopping, dining at the Fishwife. Reggae Festival was at the fairgrounds :-) KITCHENETTE WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE FOR A LONG STAY. Usually stay at Residence inn...much nicer. Bed was way too soft/carpet needed shampooing...made white socks turn black.

Location is convenient, and staff is friendly, and the cleaning staff did a good job, but if you're looking to impress your lady, this is not the place to do it. It's a no frills, nothing fancy, place to spend the night, but not much more. Our room smelled musty, and the motel is old and could use some renovation. The prices would be high anywhere else, but this is Monterey, (where price gouging is the norm), and there are only a scant selection of places cheaper than this. The continental breakfast just barely meets the minimum standard. The bottom line is that if you're looking for a cheap motel, you may want to consider this place, otherwise it shouldn't be difficult to find a nicer place to stay. I would hesitate to recommend this place to all but those of us on a budget.
