This is a small, budget hotel in the heart of KL's bustling Chinatown. It is easy to get around from here on foot, but the main drawback is that it is in the middle of a mall that is crowded from noon with hawkers' stalls, making it hard to find, and access with luggage very difficult (although the staff will offer to help). Our room was clean but poky, with insufficient space for our luggage. Unlike many other hotels in the region, there is no statement prohibiting the consumption of foul-smelling durians in rooms, and unfortunately, someone had done this in our room, leaving an unpleasant odour that was hard to get rid of. There are better alternatives in the vicinity - look for one where the taxi can drop you at the front door.

A room with a smell of durian, defect toilet and defect aircondition. Not the most helpful staff.

The D'Oriental is located in the China Town Petaling Street Markets, you access it via Petaling Street and have to walk through the markets, regardless of whether they are busy or not. So it is recommended to access the hotel for check-in in the mornings to early afternoon, otherwise the street stalls become an obstruction to access. Aside from this, the location would be good as it is very central to some important attractions of KL. It is otherwise a hotel for the basic and modest traveller, nothing fancy. They have complimentary wireless internet available on a daily basis - this is very good. Some items that might be desirable to a basic traveller - especially being so close to the markets are : 1. Empty but functional bar fridge 2. Kettle and Cups for making cups of tea or coffee. 3. Small wardrobe - if it can be made to fit. The breakfast in-house was basic. In any case, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel to others of similar modest means.

This is the third time I live there and recommend it. The rooms are small, but very central location. Free internet in the room is a plus.

We prefer this hotel to our previous ones in Kuala Lumpur despite that we had bed bugs and had to change the room twice. But the management was very concerned about our complaint and took the necessary measures.

Reasonably good, especially for the price. It was noisy due to doors slamming shut throughout the night and the internet became very poor in the evening when people got back to their rooms. The location is very hectic, crowded and a bit run-down, but very centralized with a lot going on. The breakfast was good although the OJ was quite watered-down. I will probably stay there again.

Do not stay in a room facing/near the street where the stores are.the stores are dismanted at mid night,it is very noisy when the hawkers dismantle/remove their stores follow by clean and washing the area. The whole process last till 3 am and the noice will affect your sleep.Ask for room away from the stores if you want to stay at this hotel because of convenience.

Cheap, small and cozy hotel located right in the night market street in China Town. May be somewhat noisy when the market is in progress, but other than that I think the location of this hotel was great. Right at the Bus and Train Station. Free Internet in all rooms and quite okay breakfast. Will stay there next time I'll go to Kuala Lumpur.

Very nice, clean and secure hotel, with great service and position, would have liked to have a bar fridge in room for milk for coffee and drinks, instead of having to call room service for ice and milk, but very nice and comfortable hotel to stay in, would recommend it to anyone
