So... when we arrived, we changed rooms 3 times!!! We ended up in a room with a lovely view of the parking lot... and the room smelled awful, but it was a step up from the first 2 rooms, so we went to the dollar store and bought some plug-in air fresheners. The people at the front desk were not very friendly or helpful until I told them to forget it, that I would call [...]and go get a different hotel. While we waited for our 3rd room to be ready, we had lunch at the hotel's restaurant. I do NOT recommend eating there... the food was awful. Four of us each ordered something different, and noone was happy with their meal. Long story, short... housekeeping would clean our room by noon one day, and then wouldn't get around to our room before 5:30pm another day. They forgot to leave us washcloths a couple of days, blah, blah, blah. In spite of all of this, we stayed there anyway because the hotel is in a great location on the beach and the pool area was very nice. To sum up, with so many other choices along St Pete Beach, we would never stay at the Dolphin again.

I have been coming to this hotel since I was in elementary school. I now visit the hotel when my father stays here to visit my son. On 7/2, the front desk manager [...]offered to have the police remove me from the premises because she "didn't have time" to talk to me about giving me a parking pass. I understand if you have to enforce a one-pass-per-room policy (even if your hotel is half-empty from doubling your rates for a holiday weekend), but threatening me with the police because you don't want to talk to me is beyond ridiculous. I have enjoyed almost 2 decades of beach-side family fun at the Dolphin. Now, I will never return and it saddens me. If they treat 20 year customers like reprobates, how will they treat new customers?-Frank II

We basically just hung out at the beach. Weather was nice, and everything was generally good. But I think there were some teenagers in the room next door having a party, but they were not too wild and crazy. The hotel itself was nice, if unspectacular, about what I expected for the price. It was the first time staying here, and I might go back again.

Easy access to beach and walking distance restraunts. Smallish room with no fan in bathroom. Wish the pool had stayed open later than 8:30 in the summer. Kids enjoyed running from pool to beach to pool. We enjoyed watching the amazing sunsets and sipping pina coladas by the pool... This hotel's main strengths are outside the rooms...wouldn't be something if you need extras in the room itself.

could have gotten the same quality at a motel half the price... bad and loudair conditioning, clogged shower drain, smoke scented room, unfriendly reception, reservation not ready on time. poor value
