My experience at this hotel was good, we had a very comfortable bed, I was however disapointed that we didn't have a view, but overall if was fine.

Good location - while it is not far from King's Cross it is actually in Potts Point - which makes it a lot quieter and safer. The room had everything basic. The cleanliness was left to be desired on the doors - it does not take much to wipe doors down but it does make a bad impression if you fail to do so.

We've stayed here before and were very happy with things, so chose the De Vere again.

Not knowing Sydney I didn't realise that this hotel was on the edge of the red light district (should have read earlier reviews), however as an overnight stopover it was adequate. Single room very small and basic, but clean and bed comfortable. Breakfast very good. Stairs down to reception from street not good for luggage, but help was on hand. Overall staff friendly and helpful. Hotel needs a little TLC - front door glass cleaned, brass rails to stairs polished etc.

I'm a regular guest at the DeVere Hotel & the fact I go back so often is because of its good value as a practical base for my business trips to Sydney. (Close to the train station). The rooms are generally clean & comfortable although most of them are overdue refurbishment - but I guess that would push the prices up! A walk from the hotel up Macleay street towards Kings Cross takes you past a great record/cd store & that's where I spend money saved on hotels each time I visit! A run from the hotel down Macleay street & then on thru the Botanic Gardens, around the Opera House & back via the dreaded steep steps is a fantastic course with great scenery. It's a shame that the hotel's booking system never recognises me as a repeat guest though - that way they could learn my likes & dislikes & not need to be retold them each trip.

Great place to stay, I have stayed there two years running now, easy walking to most parts of town, but must offer Wireless WiFi in rooms, Charging extra for this these days is not a good thing (charging extra for this service cost them my 5 star rating), but there is free WiFi just down the road at McDonald's & opposite is Vibes Cafe, not just free WiFi but the best value Breakfast in Sydney.

We had an overnight plane change and wanted to be closer to the Circular Quay than the Airport. The DeVere is close to many eating establishments and the Kings Cross to Martin Place rail connection made convenient access to the Circular Quay attractions with only a few minutes walking at either end. (There is also a free downtwon 555 bus that runs by the Martin Place station during peak hours.) Get the Hotel Shuttles to and from the airport as they are quick and about half the price of a taxi (for two). Inexpensive breakfast and free internet are available on Darlinghurst Road about five minutes away.

I was there for work/fun and the De Vere is a great location if you want to get to know Sydney beyond the city and the Rocks. It's a great spot for restaurants and cafes and public transport is close. I think given where it is, it is good value for money. You do get what you pay for and if you go for the cheaper rooms they are quite basic. The staff are always friendly and helpful and that is half the battle!

I come to Sydney several times a year to go to the Opera. I've stayed at several hotels but have found the Devere suits me best. There is a bus that goes between Central Station and Circular Quay and stops right outside the hotel entrance. The train station at King's Cross is a few minutes walk from the hotel, and there are plenty of places to eat or to shop for food. The staff are very helpful and I feel safe and comfortable.

Hotel is well located with access to public transportation very easy to go anywhere in downtown Sydney. Hotel is a little old with a few stairs to go up and down if you carry heavy luggage. Room was basic but confortable. It had a small kitchen and everything was very clean. Grocery stores very close by. I would stay there once again.

Never been to a hotel that doesn't even provide Kleenex. Bed was small and uncomfortable. Staff acted like robots, not real friendly.

My wife and I stayed at the Devere early March and as long as you dont mind being right on top of the Red Light district but we never felt uncomfortable when walking through, it has ideal transport links to all the major sites in the city. dispite location there were plenty of places to eat at reasonable prices near by. The staff were helpful and friendly we stayed in the newly renovated 2nd floor and would recommend these rooms very stylish

The rooms are relatively small but clean and functional. The hotel is a bit quirky with its reading room entrance and a range of clocks set to the times of a range of key international cities above the reception desk. The location is great with Woolworths across the road and numerous restaurants nearby. The room rates are generally very competitive so it is definitely worth a serious look.
