Detroit Marriott At The Renaissance Center Guest Reviews
My family took a vacation and this was a big reason it was awesome. Great staff, very clean, and the valet was exceptional. Will definitely recommend to everyone. Thanks for the great trip

The tram is excellent and a cheap way to see downtown Detroit.

My stay involved a late checkin and involved a one night stay. The booking was made at the last minute. The room was as expected, typical Marriott but I unfortunately was placed opposite the elevators. This could be a problem when a conference is going on as the door is not very sound proof. Access to the elevators is relatively confusing and certainly the elevators at least, convey a tired and old-vegas-ey impression. Small details like a mirrors positioned at 6ft and higher and tired old brass signage that has evidently been updated with overlays are small details but ultimately speak to the general lack lustre attention to detail. Checkin staff, of which there was only one on duty, was somewhat disinterested in my arrival and certainly did not extricate herself from her concierge desk and attend to me at the reception desk, this again, is a small detail but smacks of a lack of staff education. The bell hop was at least energized but this is perhaps he benefits personally from good service. The vibey bar scene was good though the early closing was a suprise, bar staff were a little slow but once they were in their groove, things picked up and they were pleasant enough. Food ordered at the bar is excellent with average pricing and the kitchen staff are prompt to serve and deliver with covers to ensure that the food doesn't cool too quickly. Seasonal vegetables comprised roast potatoes, tomato and asparagus. I am glad I ordered a salad too! There is free wifi in the bar area as well as some access stations for boarding pass printing etc which is great! The room and bathroom were clean and adequately appointed. The internet cable connector was broken though and they do charge $12.95 per 24hr session for internet access over wifi. Glasses were again scarce, instead solo cups were provided - this is annoying. The coffee machine is a solid performer though the 'condiments' provides coffee creamer and sugar and sweeteners - no dairy alternative.Check out was painless, stored luggage is provided but the staff disappeared at somewhere between 5 and 6pm so the accommodation receptionist, Nichole obliged. She was a solo staff member in attendance on a Thursday evening, so this was a surprise.Relative to other Marriott hotels I have stayed in, this is very much average. Nothing exceptional and I am glad I paid the discounted [...]rate as I am sure my Marriott Rewards rate would have delivered the same but for a hundred dollars more.
