Barcelona doesn't have many comfortable hotels at a reasonable price, and none in a good location as far as I could see. For this reason, the Derby provides value for money, as it is quiet, the staff are very nice and helpful and knowledgeable, and the room is OK (could have more than BBC News and CNN in English and an electric jug). As far as the location is concerned, it seems far from the attractions but it is very convenient for buses to everywhere, so all you need to do is forget the metro (from which you can't see anything anyway) and get used to the cheap buses, and then you can go wherever you want. Gaudi's Casa Batlló is only 10 minutes walk anyway. The quirky French poets' cafe around the corner was fun, the pizzaria across from the hotel good value.

Hotel Derby is really good in terms of comfort and cleanliness. You can get to the city center in less than 10 mins by bus and the bus stop is just 3-5 min walk away from the hotel. The hotel staff is also very nice and pleasant. The double room with king size bed should be bigger though. The breakfast price is 14 euros which is quite high too. If the double rooms are bigger and the hotel is located in the city center, I will give it 5 stars.

Stayed here with my son for a few days as we were going to watch Barcelona play. The hotel is a comfortable 20 min walk from the stadium and about a 10 min walk to the nearest Metro to take you into the centre of town. The room was well presented and of a good size. Just what you would expect with 4 stars. We didn't eat at the hotel but there is a coffee shop next door serving an excellent and less expensive breakfast than that of the hotel. Will definately revisit should I return to the city.

Nice clean hotel a little north of the usual tourist locations, but giving another perspective on Barcelona. TV in the room didn't work and was not repaired or replaced despite reporting it. Tourist bus stops right nearby. Underground Metro is realistically almost a 10 minute walk away.
