A good base for the cultural triangle. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Lovely setting. The antics of monkeys and a mongoose provided amusement (without becoming intrusive) when sitting enjoying a drink or meal outside. I recommend this hotel.

We stayed in a Deluxe Duplex and it worked really well with the double bedroom upstairs for us and our two boys (aged 2 and 3) downstairs in the living room (on mattresses on the floor) with our baby (5 months) in a cot (our own, but they may have had cots, we did not ask). The inside/outside bathroom was quite a feature and fun for the children. The forested gardens are nicely laid out and monkeys regularly swing through the trees (we saw three different types while we were there). The pool is in three parts of differing depths with a scenic waterfall between. The food was great and the staff very helpful and friendly. The senior staff in the restaurant were particularly attentive, for example, often arriving with a small spoon for a child without needing to be asked. All in all a delightful place to stay and very good value, we will definitely recommend it to friends.

Excellent hotel. Surpassed my expectations. A true retreat for serenity. I do not know where the staff was trained, but it was a topnotch service

Staff are definitely the best in Sri Lanka, giving personalized services. We received an upgrade to the cottage overlooking the lake with private gazebo. The cottage was immaculate in every aspect. Very private and peaceful. Excellent location, surrounded by lush greenery and monkeys. Great for bird watching by the lake. Spa services are excellent, although we would have preferred ayurvedic treatments. We only have one reservation: at 7 a.m. we were woken up by the noise of the gardener sweeping the ground outside our cottage. We would suggest the sweeping be done at a much later time.

A pleasant hotel set amongst the jungle surrounding a lake. The quality of the rooms and food were fine, but not of the class that you would expect from a member of the Banyan Tree hotel group. Maybe a little over priced but certainly a very nice place to stay. The jungle setting of the cottages, complete with the odd monkey jumping from roof to roof, creates a unique ambience. The Spa facilities are very good.
