Darling Towers South Yarra

Very happy with the South Yarra Apartment, complete with flat panel TV & DVD player, full kitchen facilities, even dishwasher & washing machine. Upgrade on check in was super sweet giving me a parking space in a very difficult to park suburb. all the delights of Chapel St. were only a few minutes away, yet the apartment was very quiet & peaceful at night. I would highly recommend Darling Towers South Yarra for its affordability, amenities & fantastic location.

The staff were very friendly, the apartment was very modern and had every facility and appliance anyone could need, the overall cleanliness was second to none, the location was very close to both transport and the city, an added bonus was the off street parking, this apartment far outweighed the places we had stayed at on our previous trips to Melbourne and we will certainly stay there again

For the amount I pay for the stay, this represents good value of money. Don't expect hotel grade service/facilities but at least everything works the way they should with nothing broken. Room is very clean and however looked a bit dated even with the refurbishment. Will stay again if the special rate comes up again. This is however somewhere not quite suitable if you don't have a car or have large luggages as the apartment blocks were scattered throughout the suburb.

Hotel is not the same as the one in the photo on this website, so was confusing when I stumbled across the actual apartment block, but nonetheless, the apartment was roomy, comfy bed and located very conveniently to trams, trains , restaurants and shops. Taps in the shower and the kitchen sink fell off but for the $, you really can't complain. Staff were excellent and very helpful and friendly. Would stay there again. :)

I checked in later than their office hour, i guessed this might have made the 'night manager' angry. It took him ages to come out but in fact, he was just sitting in the back office of the reception, i wondered why he needed to take long time to come out!!!!! As my apartment is located FAR FAR FAR FAR away from their "head office", this night manager explained the routing from head office to my apartment impatiently, as a tourist, i am not familiar with this and wanted to reconfirm with him the things he told me, he was then very angry and blamed me for not paying attention to him. What a service!!!! If you don't mind walking 20-30 mins after check in and being fed up with their poor service, you can choose it!!!

I liked its cheapness, and when I saw its high customer rating I figured it was too good to be true. It was pleasant, cheap, but old and basic. So not sure why it was rated 4.6 out of 5..! But it was okay at it's cheap price.

Staff were unacknowledged their surroundings and their rooms. Ants are crowing in kitchen. No parking space. No elevator for up floors.

Staff were unacknowledged about their parking, location of their rooms. I was given a room on 4th floor without elevator despite of aged of us. Half of the appliances are broken, useless. Ants are crowing in kitchen. The room is large though.

The Caroline st apartment was clean, tidy, equipped with the basics & comfortable. The only thing to criticise was that the bed was very soft, but we still slept well regardless. Great price - (we were upgraded to Caroline st from the Darling st apartment), convenient location, quiet, suprisingly neat & tidy.

The original advertisement led us to believe we were staying at different premises from the same company. We found too many things totally unacceptable. The room was filthy, it being clear the the domestic staff clearly were not doing their job. Many things were broken or did not work or worked in an unsatisfactory manner. For example the heater could not be left on for any length of time as it made an unbearable noise and was not fastened to the wall properly. The receptionist was totally rude. They had not looked at the booking properly and tried to blame us and tried to extract more money out of us. I rang the night porter as there were towels missing from the room. he was equally rude in trying to blame me for his misunderstanding. I could go on but suffice it to say I would never stay there again and could not out of good conscience recommend it to anyone else. How sad!!!!!

We were very happy with the location and security of the premises. The appartment was well laid out with everything functional. The ceiling of the bathroom needed repairs as well as the bath itself. Some mouldy smell in one of the cupboard. Comfortable bed, peaceful appartment in need of care.

We arrived late midnight at this HQ hotel. The staff seem reluctant to entertain us. After hand over the key we have to walk around 1 km in cold weather at 7-9 degree to the apartment. With carrying heavy baggage at last we arrive at level 3 of the apartment safely. Luckily the apartment facilities were superb.

Great family entertainment close by, everything you need in surrounding shops. Plenty of room in the appartments for down time without living on top of each other.

This hotel (Caroline St) is like a down market motel. Dirty rooms filled with deodorant to cover cooking smells, peeling walls, dirty ventilators, internet slow and kept dropping, small hot water capacity for winter, condescending and dismissive staff at check-in; charged additional $35 for a foldaway bed (that was pre-ordered) that had a metal bar on it and was virtually unsleepable. Worst experience in 5 years of regular business travel to Melbourne. Apart from the location, nothing positive to recommend this place.

We had previously stayed at Darling Towers, Collins St, CBD property and were very happy there. Recently booked at Darling St, South Yarra property, to be closer to family we were visiting, as a great rate was offered. My wife was travelling from Perth on her own this trip and was advised the night before arrival that she was being upgraded to a 'Superior' room at a nearby related property. You can imagine how dismayed I was to get a call from her:- 1. She was not being up-graded. 2. The room was freezing (winter, and window would not close and heater didn't work). 3. There was no milk in the fridge (for tea/coffee). 4. The room was 'cruddy' (needed painting and lots of cracks in walls). However, after 2 maintenance men spent 1.5 hrs to sort out the window and heater, and Reception provided some milk, my wife warmed both physically and also to the room and things improved rapidly after that. The maintenance men did say that her room was the last one scheduled for repainting. However, from a bad first impression, the end result was that the location was fantastic and my wife had a most enjoyable stay. She would go back to the same property! Footnote: Management gave my wife a free night to make up for the initial problems. Thank you Darling Towers.

The service apartment was o.k, not extremely great. The shower and bath tub was broken. The shower was loose, and it hit my head twice as it dropped. It has most things you'd expect from an apartment, which was good. Stayed for about 6 nights, first experience was that there was a moth that flew out of the toaster. There was some small spider and cockroach in the bathroom which was scary, and there was a tiny spider on the bed as well. The apartment needs a good bug spray... Im very hygenic and the fact that there are bugs... is a big turnoff. The outer layer of the blanket was clean, but when the cover came off a bit, the blanket has a lot of yellow stains which paranoid me. Overall, it isnt good and I wont be staying there again. The price of the apartment was really cheap, so i guess you get what you paid for.
