Danubius Hotel Astoria Budapest
4 out of 5

Staff were very friendly and helpful with good English skills.Location is perfect and centrally located for sightseeing. A beautiful city with reasonable prices. The Hotel restaurant itself not that crash hot, but plenty of places close by for food and drink. All in all a pretty good value for the price.

We stayed at the Danubis Astoria for a stag weekend and the hotel was certainly grander than we expected for the money... The lobby was very nice and the free Wi-fi certainly a bonus... The staff were mainly very good althoughhaving no idea on what to tip and then having been asked for 4000HUF for the guys moving the bags at the start of the trip I can now look back and see this as excessive... So do be carefull what to pay in tips The hotel is easy walking distance to the bar area but far enough away that it doesnt disturb your sleep... and they didnt complain about us coming back drunk at 5am two nights running.... although I did like the look of horror on the barmans face when faced with a bloke in a mankini... Prob not the place where you will be able to be outrageous.... The jazz band in the dining room certainly added to the feel of elegance....and overall a very good stay

Highly recommend Danubius Hotel Astoria Budapest, we were fortunate to be able to check in early, excellent value for money; we had all our meals in the resturaunt-first class. Room serviced daily, windows double glazed so no traffic noise etc. Metro & Hop on Hop off Buses across the road. Walking distance to all tourist attractions including river. If we were ever to return to Budapest we'd certainly stop here again.

This hotel is an art deco antique style with character and beautifully done.Only medium in size, no major facilities (like swimming pool, spa etc )but excellent dining room and (dare I say it) an old fashioned style of service.A great experience and in a top spot on top of a central metro station. If the price is right, stay there, its worth more than the average 4 star for sure.

Staffing excellent throughout the whole hotel. Everyone on the ball and very helpful. The restaurant ala carte food was very good, and the buffet breakfasts were good, replenished often, some variation day to day, started early for early departures and offered a cold "box" to take ith you or have in the lobby if you were leaving earlier. Free coffee and tea in the lobby from around 0500. Would happily go back again, ssigned PMWE

Grand hotel in the older style in a super city location, an easy walk to major city attractions including the gorgeous St Stephen's church, museum, art galleries, synagogue, river-front with all sorts of entertainment. It's also spot on for the excellent bus & metro service so it's easy to get to the Citadel, Castle, and spas including the impressive Hotel Gellert art noveau thermal baths & pool. Number 8 & number 112 buses go directly & frequently to the Congress centre making conference attendance easy (I attended the recent EACPT conference there) & adding the advantage of being in the middle of the city for after-hours entertainment. The staff are great - ever-helpful & patient. I had a great stay - thank you.

Nice old style modernised hotel with a history near "everything" in central Budapest. I'd certainly go there again.

We found the Astoria an excellent hotel for our four night stay in Budapest. Spotlessly clean and comfortable, it has an old world charm about it. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful and the food was good. Our room was moderately large, well equipped and very adequate though one mattress was a bit thin. The hotel is well situated in central Pest with a convenient Metro line immediately outside. Public transport, as we learned to our pleasure, is free in Budapest for those over sixty. I can thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Budapest and I would definitely stay there again myself; it gave us the base for a wonderful stay in that city.

Perfectly situated and full of character, I would recommend this hotel. The buffet breakfast is excellent but the smoking in the Foyer spoils the atmosphere. The lumpy flock pillows delays sleep.

This is for standard room. Very clean, comfortable bed and location is perfect. Service at hotel is very good. Furbishings a bit tired, however, ignored as everything else about the room and hotel is great. Certainly value for money

This rating is for the Deluxe room. We were impressed overall but the shower needed repairing. The room was very comfortable. service is excellent and location is perfect with the Metro right at the front door and easy to use.

i commented on the service being average only in the case of the making up of the room which was never ready when we returned for a rest at 3.00pm and perhaps the kitchen might invest in a toaster seeing that it took ages for toast to be served when asked for. The service at the reception was excellent. my only complaint is that the room we were given was above some service area and we were woken up daily at around 5.00am - not an excellent start to the day seeing we were on holiday. Far too noisy!
