The Danieli was a real disappointment. The hotel itself is a fascinating building, which is located virtually next door to St Marcs's Sq, so location is great. However.... our room overlooked the lagoon (lovely), but also looked out onto the main thoroughfare. If we shut our window shutters our room was like an oven, if we opened them it was like sleeping in the middle of Piccadilly Circus! We didn't sleep for three nights, and on day three were treated to the sound (at 3am) of scaffolding being constructed outside our window! The Terrace Restaurant was expensive and the food very average. Both our main courses were overcooked and cold. The overall cost was absolutely extortionate for what was a very average stay. Staff were OK but a bit off hand. Our advice - don't bother, there are far better hotels to enjoy.

Hotel great, but very expensive. Tea, coffee in room service 8 Euro, breakfast 32 euro each. With exchange rate at moment this becomes very expensive

Even tho the location is next to the San Marco place, my room was very small, very noisy from the wather taxi and the crowd from the water front. I had a better stay at [other hotel] for half the price.

This is probably the most prestigeous hotel in Venizia, and it's worth. Staying ex d'Andro's residence gives you a great satisfaction, esp. if you know the history of Venice well. The service is superb, the location excellent. Unfortunately, this reflects on the very high price, but again, it is worth.

I managed to arrange an excellent deal at the last minute for a recent wedding I was attending. The service was exemplary and even when there were charges for unused items on my bill, these were removed with no problems or arguments. The room was standard hotel fare, but as I only paid a standard price, that is no more than I expected. The decor however is absolutely splendid throughout the public areas of the hotel. As a woman on my own travelling to Italy for the first time, I would recommend the Danieli without hesitation. I loved it.
