My daughter chose this hotel for its neighborhood, and for its distinctive, intimate nature and we were pleased. It was a pleasant walk to the Opera and to Central park, had many small, interesting restaurants nearby, a garage very close (with discount for the hotel), and always someone gracious on duty at the front desk. With just two dozen rooms it was quiet and homey. The room was small and our view just a peek toward the street and skyline, but it met our needs. The bathroom was very nice, all in perfect condition and clean. There was a little Italian Restaurant in the basement level, which we enjoyed. Cost seemed a bit high there, but the hotel gives a 15 percent discount at that location. The only negative during our two night stay was that the room was very hot and we could not find a way to adjust the heat. (finally cracked the window for relief). BUT when I mentioned this on departure I was told there was a way we could have turned off the heat. The management has plans to provide an information book in each room in the near future, which will include info about adjusting the heat and other helpful info. We enjoyed an inexpensive, enjoyable meal another night at a nearby Cuban restaurant, and loved a small bookstore on a nearby parallel street. We recommend this as a nice neighborhood and good value.

receptive staff, essentially comfortable rooms, great restaurant located on property, and most of all, convenient to virtually all mid-town activities (theatre, museums, restaurants, etc.) Highly recommend to visitors to The City.

Stayed for one Saturday night. Small, but efficiently laid out lobby. Narrow hallways, but large (for Manhattan) elevator. Room (at least mine) was typical Manhattan tiny, but with 13ft ceilings, felt larger than it was. Bathroom was small but full of high-end fixtures and marble tiles everywhere. Closet space was almost non-existent (a tall armoire) which was not an issue for me, since I didn't even unpack my luggage. Bed was comfortable, and linens were clean and soft. Small writing desk, chair, night stand with alarm clock and lamp, and a wall-hanging LCD TV made the content of the rest of the room. The window mounted heather/AC seemed to work. It was ~10F outside. A light continental breakfast served in the lobby was nice. Only the lack of some type of juice kept it from being ideal. The two free PC's for internet use in the lobby was also a plus. I'd definitely stay again for 1~2 nights.

This European-style boutique hotel is very clean, nice rooms that aren't insanely small, good bed, and free internet that works, all in a central location. I liked it! Can't think of one negative thing to say about it. There's a nice bar downstairs where you can meet some nice locals.

I went to cheap tickets.com and they found me the Da Vinci hotel. I give this hotel a 5 star and here is why. The location , right in the heart of the city and we walked around the block and a line for David Letterman show was growing bigger and bigger and my friend says " must be someone good on " I repliec,"we'll watch it tonight. We then hear screaming and Lady Ga Ga enters The Ed Sullivan theater and she was also going to perform at Central park that Friday. Anyway, the staff was very nice, coffee and continental breakfast in the morning. We had access to a computer of coarse and the beds were awesomely comfortable. We awoke well rested. I also liked that directly across the street was a huge parking ramp garage and I just parked the car there and left it there for the weekend. We then walked and took subways. It was a comfortable hotel and a restaurant right next door. My parking bill was only $28.00 and cheap tickets.com got us a sale price of $135.00 each night. We were there to attend a dance performance at Studio City. When I got home and about one month later I was receiving e mails from cheap tickets.com that many hotels more luxurious were on sale. I love cheap tickets.com they always keep posted . The Da Vinci truly deserves a 5 star rating. The people were so nice and accommodating too. In fact that is where I will stay again in the Spring of 2012 when I go back to N.Y.C. Mary

The hotel was very clean and the room was nice. The location is great. My only complaint was the room was a little chilly from the 2 large windows. Other than that, it was great. I would definitely stay there again!

Perfect location on Manhattan. Good amenities. Nice crossants and muffins available for breakfast with your coffee in the lobby. Good price. Only small complaint: Dirty carpets.

Small room, quiet and clean, with good sized bathroom, mini fridge and great location. However, guests can't control room temperature so it was hot & stuffy, and ice only available from restaurant downstairs, and hallways were being vacuumed at 6pm. Staff were cordial but not very helpful, and didn't seem able to multi-task, and I had to wait an overly long time to be registered. I'd stay there again due to location and price but it was only average.

I stayed at the DaVinci for one night to attend a recital at the Met Opera. The location was ideal. This is an old fashioned hotel with very small rooms (although the bathroom was as large as that in the Sheraton Balitmore!). Even though the room was small and the furnishings old, everything was spotlessly clean and I spent little time in the room anyway (didn't even turn on the flat screen tv). Free wifi was spotty, but--FREE. The free breakfast of coffee and croissants was fine. The room was cold, although it had a steam radiator I might have been able to turn up--I like it cold for sleeping so this was actually an advantage. I would definitely stay there again. If you have stayed in a B&B in Europe 20 years ago you'll have an idea of this delightful place. Don't expect a Marriott, Sheraton, or Hilton and you will be pleased!

I was going to NYC this trip specifically to see Broadway shows...so I needed a hotel that was affordable and central to the theater district, where I could easily get to a different show each night. The location was amazing - blocks from multiple Subway lines, within 10 minutes walk to Times Square and all the Broadway shows I could ever want...it was absolutely perfect. I was afraid for the cheaper price that it wouldn't be a nice place to stay, but it was very clean, the room was the perfect size, the bed was comfy enough, the A/C worked just fine - I was very pleased. The only draw back, as others have said, is the WiFi...although it is free, it is EXTREMELY slow and spotty, and considering my bf and I were both supposed to be working from the hotel off and on during the day, it was a pain in the butt. But they did offer two free (fast) machines in the lobby that I was able to print (free) my boarding passes from, so there are alternatives at least. Oh, one more issue we had was ants - we brought a lot of snacks back to the room (cheesecake, bagels, pizza) and as soon as we put the trash on the floor, it would get attacked by ants...so we had to be meticulous about throwing it out right away (outside of our room in the main trash)...but that wasn't a big deal, they were no where to be found if there wasn't any food lying around. :)

My husband and I enjoyed our stay in Da Vinci. We didn't know what to expect and had second thoghts about our reservation days before leaving for our holiday. Our surprise was that it was an excellent hotel for the price and location to Broadway, restaurants and hop-on/off buses for sightseeing. The room was not too big but hey, how much room do you need...the bathroom was beautiful (all marvel and thoroughtly cleaned each night). Complimentary breaked was a great start for us and all we needed. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone especially friends and family.

I travel every other week to NY and stay in a range of hotels depend on what's available. The davinci goes in the category of barely passable. It's a good location but the trade off is street noise. The room was extremely basic and the carpet was damp/wet. Iasked to be moved after the first night but this was either ignorerear missed. Wi-fi though free was pathetic in terms of page load. Bathroom was ok

A two-day trip to The City on short notice, but my last minute plans worked out very well. This hotel is a very good deal. My room was small and the bathroom tiny -- but both were adequate, I just needed a place to shower and sleep. Things were clean and the service good. For the modest room price, this is a very, very good deal.
