Home to some of the greatest water sports Cyprus has to offer, the resort town of Protaras is a perfect place if you want to make a splash. From parasailing to water skiing, wakeboarding to pedal boat rides; you will find much to do. The majority of hotels, restaurants and bars are scattered around the famous Fig Tree Bay beach area. Here, you can relax on golden sands, bathe in the warm, blue Mediterranean waters and enjoy a variety of fresh Cypriot dishes. Visit the Cavo Greco, a protected nature park with great views, located at the headlands at the southern end of Famagusta Bay outside Protaras. Also on the outskirts of Protaras is the Church of Agios Ilias. This small stone church also offers visitors great views.
From traditional yet flavorsome tavernas to buzzing karaoke bars, you will not be disappointed with what is offered in Protaras. There are busses in Protaras that can easily take you to neighbouring Ayia Napa, Paralimni and Larnaca so you can explore these fantastic areas as well on your holiday.

Protaras has a Mediterranean climate, with tourists enjoying around 340 days of sunshine each year. Temperatures are at their hottest from June to September, when they regularly reach 30oC (86oF). Spring in Protaras is popular with those wishing to see the lush green landscapes decorated with beautiful wildflowers. Spring brings temperatures around a comfortable 20oC (68oF). Rain is rare in Protaras during the summer months, but is at its heaviest during winter. The annual precipitation is 32 centimetres (12.6 inches).

Getting There
Visitors to Protaras fly into Larnaca International Airport, which is where the vast majority of international and domestic flights land. The airport has cafes, bars and restaurants, allowing you to quench your thirst and satisfy your hunger upon landing or whilst waiting for your flights. Stores are also available for shopping. The airport also offers free wireless Internet access for those who wish to keep in touch with friends and relatives back home. From the airport, you can reach your base in the town via the Intercity Bus, which travels hourly from Larnaca International to Larnaca City. The Kapnos Airport Shuttle is another airport transport option. You can also hire a car at the airport or take a taxi, which can be found on the right of the terminal building’s exit.
