Crowne Plaza Hotel Beijing

I have stayed in this hotel for many times. Not because I like it, just because my other colleague like to location. However, I don't think the money paid on this hotel is worth. The room wasn't tidy everyday. Staff forgot to arrange the car which we book at hotel to airport. Luckily, we didn't miss the flight. However, we already paid the money to the hotel and the taxi. The hotel promise to refund our money later. Anyway, I will choice other hotel next time in Beijing.

I recently stayed at the Crowne Plaza at Wangfujing and its was overall pretty ordinary. The hotel was very tired, the carpet old and the roof leaking at various spots with towels on the ground. Each night someone (purportedly from housekeeping) would knock on my door, enter the room without me responding, and then ask if I needed anything. This occurred after 11:00pm each night when I was asleep. My fridge did not work and the airconditioner banged and pumped all night, like a truck trying to change gears. The hotel is near all the major shops but a long walk from the subway and the Forbidden City. Overall I would recommend that you try somewhere else in future.

The hotel is a very convenient starting point for many parts of Beijing. There is not much choice of restaurants within it and I did not eat outside in the short time I had, but the food was good.

The hotel itself is great, the staff... that is a different issue, but if u remember in your head that this is China and that is the way of giving service, u can overcome that and enjoy the hotel.

With the taxes added on, this hotel was quite expensive. However, you can''t beat its central location. The staff was mostly helpful, except for the cashier who refused to exchange our $100 bill because it was "dirty". (Note: it wasn''t dirty, it had a small black mark on it, the bill looked new.) Everything considered, I would recommend this hotel to a friend for its location and quality of the room.

Very good location at a reasonable (for Beijing) price. This is the best hotel for the money.

We concluded our three-week China visit here, and it was the best accommodation of the trip. The location could not be better--just a short walk to Beijing''s Forbidden City. The room was very comfortable and at the end of the trip, we appreciated all the ammenities.

Very nice hotel in a good location. I''ve seen this hotel rated at different web sites as being a 3 star, 4 star or 5 star hotel. My opinion is that it is a very solid 4 and possibly a 5. Staff is about as friendly as you will find in a PRC hotel. Buffet dinners are excellent and a good value.

You probably shouldn''t waste your time on the currency exchange machine in the lobby. The cashier will ocassionally direct guest to the currency machine which works about 10% of the time. I''m finding that the currency machines throughout China tend not to recognize US dollars.

Just one person who helped me with checking in was not very friendly and I felt somewhat unpleasant with, but other staff members especially the entrance attendants were extremely helpful. I especially liked their service to record the taxi number as a guest departs the hotel.

The hotel is in an excellent location. It is very close to the Forbidden City. I did, however, find that the taxi called by the hotel were twice as expensive as the ones you got from the street.

The hotel prices in China being relatively inexpensive, I would be remiss not to note that the Crowne Plaza at $89 is not overpriced but is also not a bargain. The concierge staff was very efficient and helpful and provided me with good information to support the travel guide information. I spent very little time in the room. The room had fresh flowers and the bed was very comfortable. Of course the morning breakfast (included) was delicious. I liked that the hotel is a western style hotel and is very near the downtown and a good shopping street.

I got the Chinese address from the Crowne Plaza Beijing by FAX. It was very useful for the foreigner. I recomend to get the Chinese adrress by FAX for showing the taxi driver.

How do you dare to go to Beijing with your children? Well, we were two mothers and five children (from 8 to 3 years old) and we had a wonderful week. From the booking till the check out, they did everything to make our stay pleasant. They reserved 2 rooms at the end of the corridor. So, it was easy for the kids to play with each other. They help us to find a van for going to the Great Wall. Their breakfasts are copious and give a good start to our daily journeys in the city. Every night, we enjoyed the concert at the coffee shop. The hotel location is fantastic (near Tiananmen) and well known by the taxi drivers. Actually, it had not been not so adventurous but simply easy going.

Excellent location for sightseeing and shopping. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Staff extremely helpful and accomodating, especially the housekeeping department. It would have been helpful to have in-room information about the surrounding area and restaurants. Did not know until last day that there was an acrobatic show available through the tour desk.
