Nice hotel, but far outside the city centre. For those (as me) who do not speak mandarin it is very hard to communicate with staff. Some of the bellboys speak english, let them translate!

Five star resort with modern accomodations and exceptional service. Location is 30 minutes away from Hangzhou city center but free shuttle service available in car, van, bus according to number of passengers. Heated in door swimming pool with great foot massage facility. Will definitely revisit.

very quiet and peaceful place to stay with a free shuttle bus to Hangzhou and West lake - about 30 minutes

The Sofitel Xanadu is a lovely facility with superb service but is a bit out of the way for those who are seeking big city amities. If you what you are seeking is a little peace and quiet from the fast pace of life in urban China this is a perfect hotel. Check in and check out were flawless. The onsite restaurants are nice but not inexpensive. There are many opportunities for walking, hiking local mountains, biking and swimming in an Olympic sized pool. It is outstanding.
