A delightful hotel in a pretty location. We loved the garden setting and would stay there again.

A good hotel in a good location; spotty wifi is the only issue.

Traditional with a modern twist. Friendly service, great food. Expensive. A few ridiculous items eg 6' wide bed. Very ample space in bedroom and good communications via TV screen which doubled as an announcement board. Appreciated being able to access radio channels.

Maybe we were just unlucky, but our room was so narrow that we had to take turns to get past the foot of the bed. The tiny sitting area had a wobbly table and 2 chairs that had to be moved around if you wanted to open the closet. The pillows we had (foam) were so hard we both had neck-aches after sleeping on them. We asked for feather pillows, but the hotel didn't have any. So our souvenirs from Edinburgh are pillows bought at BHS. The bathroom was 4 star as was the restaurant: excellent food. Friendly service, but the room was not what we expect for a 4-star rating.

I enjoyed my stay in the hotel and was very happy with the room I was given as I was given an upgrade on booking in. The bar was quiet but the barman was very pleasant. I was a little dissapointed with the meal on the Saturday night as it was Easter weekend and there was limited choice compared to the menu on the hotels site. The location was as expected apart from the climb from the main town but you can't do anything about geography.

Hotel didn't feel like some big grand hotel chain,no charactor. This is very cozy and nicely designed with its own charactor and warm ambiance. Food in the restaurant is excellent too.

Clean pleasant room looking out on the park at the back of the hotel. The bathroom basin did not drain properly, and I hate showers fixed on the wall. But the real absurdity is to charge £10 a day for internet access - this is outrageous. Otherwise it was an enjoyable stay.

The only problem was at breakfast on Sunday morning. As breakfast was up to 10:30, there was a rush and it was difficult getting a seat and served. Otherwise, great location and a hotel to recommend to friends and family.

An outstanding hotel. This hotel was in the perfect position for a weekend in Edinburgh, close enough to the centre but far enough away to maintain its' individuality. I was given a suite, even though I booked a normal double room. It was huge and made the weekend. The staff were excellent, the food was great, the hotel was warm when outside was freezing and all-in-all one of the best value for money vacations I've ever had.

It may say 4star but I would knock one off. On the plus side it is in a fab location, the bar staff are friendly and it looks nice. Rooms also a good size. Also, if you are gay it is in the heart of the gay area with 4-5 bars and a club. However: two lights didn't work, the room didn't get serviced until prompted at 5pm, they changed the breakfast format from self-service to order with no warning so I missed breakfast. It was just sloppy round the edges.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights - we booked a standard room - but were allocated suites - excellent. The beds were extremely comfortable, the coffee & biscuits delicious, the the swimming pool, sauna & steam room superb. We did a lot of walking, so gave the fitness suite a miss! The breakfasts were hot and very palatable - you could have what & as much as you wished for All in all, this is probably one of the best - we would certainly stay there again, without hesitation
