Most activities and attractions in Plitvice National Park in Croatia involve nature, and it is a great destination if you like exploring waterfalls, lakes, caves and woodlands. Plitvice National Parkis home to the Plitvice Lakes, known for their crystalline cobalt-blue waters, which many visitors explore through boat tours. Another body of brilliant water is Gradinsko Lake, which has been featured in travel shows. Those who stick to hiking the trails are rewarded with views of waterfalls such as Mali Buk, Veliki Slap and the glorious Cascades. If you cannot get enough of these waterspouts, there are more at the Lower Lakes and at Sastavci. When To Go
Plitvice National Park has distinct seasons characterised by cold snowy winters and pleasant warm summers. The average winter temperature is 2-3°C (36-37°F), but it can drop below freezing, especially in January. It usually snows November through March. Spring is cool and rainy with temperatures from 9-14°C (48-57°F). Summer warms up with high temperatures from 17-19°C (63-66°F). September and October are pleasant with temperatures falling to 10-12°C (50-54°F). The rainfall is very consistent from spring to late fall with about 12-13 cm (5 inches) per month. The driest months are January and February with 10-11 cm (4 inches), and most of this precipitation is in the form of snow.

Getting There
It is not very difficult to get to Plitvice National Park as long as you plan ahead. If you are an international traveller, you will likely land at the airport in Zadar, Zagreb or Rijeka. The bus is the easiest way to get directly to Plitvice National Park if you are using public transportation. There are direct routes to the park from bus stations in Split, Zadar and Zagreb. It is rumoured that Croatian buses do not adhere to their published timetables, so get to the stops early. The train stations nearest Plitvice National Park are Josipdol and Plaški, but there are no direct buses from these train stations to the park. Knowing this, you will need to arrange transportation to a bus station if you travel by rail.
