Crescent Resort & Spa on South Beach Miami Guest Reviews
The hotel isn't much to look at from outside. Not allowed to check in until 4pm, which is late. Hotel held our luggage behind a curtain up front. Room was big for the price. Ice maker in fridge took a day to form enough ice to use. bed was good, the throw pillow had stains on it. Overall the room was good. The only bad thing i experienced was the last night i woke up around 2am, went to the washroom and there was a huge cockroach on the jacuzzi...it ran when the light came on and crawled into a hole under the jacuzzi. The hotel desk knew very little about miami, not a huge deal, but overall they seemed to not really care about helping out guests. The location of the hotel is good, toward the quieter end of ocean drive. There is a walgreens about 3 blocks up on collins but we discovered a small convenience store at 14th and washington that had everything you need for much cheaper. For example, a 12 pack of corona at walgreen was $18 and at the convenience store it was $13. Sunblock at walgreens was $13, at convenience store $6. If you like mexican food, go to "O mexico" on espanola way. Its only 3 blocks from this hotel. They have the best tres leches cake i've ever had, trust me, you will be impressed. Their food was also excellent and tasted home made. Planet sushi was excellent. Le Sandwicherie on 14th and washington was delicious and fresh. A couple could share 1 sub for 7 bucks and be fine for lunch. The beach area directly in front of cresent seemed slower in terms of people. If you want more action, head to the beach and make a right on the sand till you find your spot. Tip-if you plan on walking down ocean to get somewhere, walk down the beach. it is a lot faster and there is a breeze so you won't get as hot. You will sweat unbearably there so any little bit helps. Do not eat at jerry's deli, it is expensive and the food is bland. If you want deli, see my suggestion above. Also, gratuity is included at all restaurants on ocean drive(17%) so be wary at the constant sales pitches by the people on the sidewalks trying to get you to eat there. They'll say 2 for 1 drinks, but the drinks are usually about 25-30 bucks for one. Head to espanola way and lincoln to experience what the locals know to be the best. Another thing i saw when sitting in the lobby was disturbing. The maid brought a stack of freshly washed yellow beach towels to the front desk. The lady at the front desk took them and put them behind the desk as customary. A young lady came down to the front desk about ten minutes after that and asked for a beach towel and the front desk lady claimed to not have any available because they were all being washed! She was clearly lying because I saw a fresh delivery...why she did this, I do not know. Maybe the hotel trys to secretly limit how many beach towels they give out. Finally, i have been to miami many times over the past several years. One thing i have noticed is that the place has been getting increasingly popular with 'ghetto' people. I dont know what hotels these people stay at, but they tend to flock in groups on ocean drive and collins. They really take away from the miami flavor and ambiance. They walk around with their pants down on their knees, talk way too loudly, and use profanities in public around families with small children. Overall they are disrespectful and offer nothing to this area. One night there, about 11:40pm, a group of 4 young men were walking down collins and as they passed me two of the men in the group began arguing with each other which eventually led to a shoving match on street. This is just ugly and miami needs to take its own steps to rid the area of these unwanted guests.

Lovely place and location. Our only problem was that because check-in wasn't until 4.00 pm and there was no room on Ocean Drive to park the car, we parked just behind on a busy pay and display car park (in front of the Days Inn, Miami Beach), leaving the car for less than 30 minutes, in which time it was broken into and our belongings stolen. Please be aware of the high crime rate in this city, even though it may appear safe. We then lost a couple of days arranging emergency passport and spare keys etc. If this warning saves one person going through the ordeal that we did, then it is worth it!
