The Tamarindo Rundown

No matter what daily adventures tourists decide to embark on in Tamarindo, beach gear and equipment of all kinds are available for rental from many of the specialty shops and stores. Visitors may get to see the giant leatherback turtle laying her eggs. The Marino las Baulas National Park offers this magnificent experience if your timing is right, and it is just a short ride from Tamarindo. For golfers, the Hacienda Pinilla promises to be a golfer’s dream come true. With its pristine beaches, beautiful landscapes, clear blue waters and pleasant weather, it is no wonder that this former fishing village has become a popular holiday spot.
When To Go
The temperature of Tamarindo remains fairly warm throughout the year. There are only two seasons in this Costa Rican paradise, wet and dry. The dry season runs from November through April, and has sunny days that are hot, but with low humidity. As for the wet season, it begins in late April and continues through the month of October. A typical day during the wet season is sunny to partly cloudy. In the afternoon is when the inland showers build, and then move offshore.
· November through April: Average daily high 30°C (85°F)
· April and May: Average daily high 34°C (93°F)
· June through October: Average daily high 32°C (90°F)
Getting There
To reach Tamarindo, the Guanacaste Airport is open to international flights and domestic traffic. Located just 45 minutes from Tamarindo, the trip from the airport to the city is quite pleasant. There are also many international flights that come into Juan Santamaría International Airport in San Jose. Many direct international flights come to Liberia’s Daniel Oduber International Airport as well.
Bus travel is one of the best ways to get around Costa Rica. The transportation network is actually quite good, and provides both cheap and extremely efficient routes. Although there is no national bus network, San Jose’s downtown area is a bustling hub for all types of transportation.
By boat, there are many ports that accept visitors to Tamarindo on cruise ships. Some of the ports in Costa Rica that have stops for cruise ships are: Drake Bay, Curu, Golfo Dulce, Isla de Cano, Puerto Caldera and many others. Arrangements for ground transportation to Tamarindo should be made before or upon arrival to the port.

· Bus – See more of Costa Rica by bus, beginning with Tamarindo; cheap and efficient
· Boat – Many visitors come to Costa Rica on cruise ships, then take ground transportation to Tamarindo
