Puntarenas Climate

Puntarenas is in a tropical environment that experiences few climatic changes or seasons. The days are very hot, with average high temperatures well above 30°C all year. Low temperatures generally stay in the mid-20s most of the year, and most of the annual rain falls between the months of May and November.

Getting There & Around

Fly into Juan Santa Maria International Airport in the capital, San Jose. Take a taxi to the bus station and buy a ticket to Puntarenas. The inexpensive trip will take around two hours to reach the peninsula.

There are buses that leave the downtown area and head for tourist sites every day. Vendors will get on the buses and try to sell you a variety of goods, food and drink. You can also easily find taxis, but walking is a better option.
