The Jaco Rundown ... Read more »
In Jaco, Costa Rica, life’s a beach. This once sleepy beachside town has lately become a Mecca for surfers from far and wide, and now tourists have begun to notice this slice of paradise just an hour’s drive southwest of San Jose. Jaco’s beaches are always pumping, and they’re the place to be if you’re into the thrill of wild beach partying, but when revelry becomes a chore, there are some quieter places within easy distance.
Playa Herradura, just 7 kilometres (4.3 miles) north of Jaco, is a perfect tranquil hideaway, or get a little closer to nature at the Carara Biological Reserve. For those who prefer sitting on the water to swimming in it, Jaco’s deep-sea fishing is an awesome experience, but if it’s heart-stopping adventure you’re after, visit Pacific Bungee on Jaco beach and get a taste of adrenaline before breakfast.
After the sun goes down, the nightlife starts to sizzle, and wherever you look there’s something to see or do. Dance the night away in one of the nightclubs or discos, blow a little cash at the baccarat tables in the casino, or just relax with a good meal at one of Jaco’s celebrated restaurants
