Cosmos Hotel Athens Guest Reviews
This hotel is a good buy. It is only one block from the closest subway station. It is on a quiet street off the main drag so it's quiet. The rooms are neat and clean. They are small compared to American hotels but I have found that rooms in Europe generally are on the small side. And it has an elevator, so you don't have to struggle with stairs with your luggage. No meals at the hotel but there are several close by. Just ask the friendly desk clerk for suggestions. The one on duty suggested a nice restaruant that had mostly locals there so you knew that you were eating authentic Greek. One thing to keep in mind, most maps, Google and Bing especially, have the subway station in the wrong place. It's actually a little north of where it's shown, in the triangle to the north of the traffic circle formed by Theodorou Diliganni (the main street), Viktoros Ougko, and Chiou streets. Just head up Viktoros Ougko one block and the hotel will be on the corner.

Decent room at the right price, right beside metaxourgio metro station. breakfast not included but lots of local Cafes in the area, the one beside the nearby police station is good. also some good local bars in the area when you get out of the overpriced tourist traps in central athens.

If price is your main criteria, this place is outstanding. Obviously it's not 5 stars, or with a view of the acropolis, and is a bit further away. The reception is a bit dilapidated, and the area maybe not the best. HOWEVER, it is clean, tidy, has free wifi in room, and good air-conditioning . Also extremely close to a metro station. Seems to be a street market (food) right outside on Wednesday mornings. It is a 20-25 minute walk, or a few metro stops from most of the tourist destinations. So if you want very cheap and pleasant, I'd definitely recommend here.
