Congress Hotel Vienna

We went for a double room and we thought the hotel is good value for the money. It actually is but it lacks a few things. The breakfast is okay (for 3 stars) but you might have problems finding a seat, the room's furniture is old, including the front door, so it makes a lot of noise in the night and the front office staff is less welcoming. Overall it's okay since breakfast was okay, location is close to the metro and price is good.

Key point is to ask for a room at the back. Very busy road outside the hotel and the new railway station is being built across the road, so a room overlooking the main road is noisy. But the hotel is very close to a U1 station and only a few stops to the centre of Vienna. I must add that the staff are very helpful. Room s clean and tidy. Good value given the proximity to the centre of town.

Pick another hotel, if possible... Its location is good, close to the Belvedere Palace and S-bahn, tram, bus, metro stations. But, it's not clean enough and the glasses aren't well cleaned, so I contracted a disease there... Wireless connection isn't working in rooms. Very old low-tech shower with tap fixed in the wall. Staff not friendly enough. Very good, rich breakfast, good location are the pros. But for this price, you'd deserve more, so I don't recommend this hotel.

I stayed at the Congress Hotel Vienna in April 2010, and I found the hotel good taking the price in consideration. It was a clean room with a nice bathroom, and it had all you needed, if you are a casual guest. The breakfast served consisted of new types of ham and salami for the bread each day, and there was a lot more to choose from including cornflakes and scrambled eggs. It was located very close to U- and S-station Südtirolerplatz, and it was therefore easy to find transportation. The staff were nice and helpful, and if you would like to eat close to the hotel, then I would recommend Restaurant Böhmerwald about 100 metres from the hotel. Good traditional food at a low price. I will recommend this to people who are satisfied with something average at a relatively low price.

With an old, cosy hotel you cannot expect everything to be perfect and cutting-edge. However, a functioning LAN and fridge / minibar in every room would be nice although the free internet cafe-like arrangement beside the reception is comfortable. I could tick off very good on service (with a multilinguistic and multihumorous staff), location and pricing - the form did not allow it.

Unless you can withstand loud noise from compressor pumps (even with windows closed) and you can actually hear snoring from next door (from your bed!) I would not recommend you to stay in this hotel. Over the 3 nights I stayed the cleaning was not done as cleaning lady came at late afternoon when we are already back in room.

Nice rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Location unlovely on a very busy and noisy street, but well located concerning transport to airport and trains generally. No air conditioning so in hot sunny weather rooms to the street - like mine get very hot indeed and if you open the window trafficnoise will kill your sleep.

Parking prices were outrageously expensive and I ended up parking a long walk away from the hotel, but the charges were still really high.

The hotel is OK, but nothing special. The price we paid was low comparing to other hotels. It is clean and the location is good. The parking fee is not correct. They have only three cards for parking in the garage, which were all used when we arrived at the hotel, so we had pay to pay the usual ful fee for parking in the garage.
