Air con was a bit noisy and room took a while to cool down. Staff nice and easy to be self sufficient at this hotel (compared to other high end hotels in the area with over the top service). We were on our honeymoon and given two king dingle beds, which was dissappointing. Fantastic location though and given that we found accom in waikiki to be very expensive prob not bad value.

My room, with Mountain View, was spacious and well appointed. However, the sliding door window rattled considerably. With continual high winds I found the best solution was to have it completely open at night which then meant there was a great amount of noise from passing traffic. The kitchen area was well appointed with microwave, fridge, coffee maker and cutlery and crockery supplied, including tea, coffee and sugar. There was no tea towel ,cloth or diswashing liquid. I asked at reception and was told that I leave my used plates to be cleaned by the house staff. I do not like to leave unwashed items in a kitchen, particularly if it is also my living and bedroom. The staff were excellent and went out of their way to help. The Concierge was most informative in suggesting various tours that could be undertaken. Being an early riser I enjoyed breakfast at 6.30am in the dining room. The breakfast was excellent with eggs and bacon or eggs and sausage plus the usual toast, juice etc. HOWEVER, on two occasions I came down round 7.30 and found that the table cloths were dirty with spills and spots from previous diners. The later you breakfasted the worse it was. This could be solved by putting a clear plastic overlay on the tablecloth which could easily be wiped down each time the table was vacated. It would also save on laundering expenses. I guess for staffing economic reasons, you were also asked to put your dirty plates and cutlery in a basin at the end of the food line. I found this distasteful, but do not know if this is the 'norm' in Hawaii. I have travelled extensively and usually stay in similar style properties and have not come across this before. After the first encounter I got used to the idea but initally it was a shock. It was pleasant to find that soft drinks, tea and coffee were available all day. Lovely to get a cool drink on one's return from an outing. I would suggest, if you can go the extra cost, that you book a Mountain View Room as some of the City View Rooms look directly on to the building next door. In the MVR my view was uninterupted over the canal and across to the Mountains which gave one a feeling of spaciousness. The location of the hotel was away from the madding crowd, but still close enough for an easy walk to reach shops, beach and transport. The public transport system is excellent and for $2.50 you can get a day pass. A tour not to be missed is the Pearl Harbor visit. Exceptionally well organised, very informative and emotive.

The hotel was clean and modern, the staff was very courteous and accomodating and the beds were terrific! We asked for an upgrade to the mountain side and they gave us a terrific room with a view! One caution, if you want a view, choose the mountain side, which has beautiful views. If not, you are looking right into other peoples apartments. The only thing that could be changed were the small air conditioners in the rooms. They worked, but took quite a while to cool the room to a comfortable setting.

A nice hotel in the heart of Waikiki. Transport is just around the corner and a short stroll (two blocks) to the main street that is lined with stores and restaurants. The beach is a short stroll away as well. Our room was clean and had a lovely mountain view that was spectatcular at night time. The small lanai was handy to sit at night time and have some rest and relaxation after a day out and about. The staff was helpful and the intenet cafe was a handy thing to have. Overal a nice place to stay at.. recommended.
