Club Quarters in Houston
4 out of 5

I waited until what I expected to be way too late to book my hotel room for the 2013 marathon. Expecting to get a dump of a hotel, I somehow managed to find this gem, and only 4 or so blocks form the start line. My room was a little on the smaller side, but cozy and very comfortable. The staff was helpful, and check in/check out was a breeze. I will definitely stay here again.

As expected of a 3 star hotel. Reception duty manager was very helpful. My second time stay in a Club Quarters Hotel. Will be happy to stay again.

We enjoyed the hotel and would definitely stay here again. In fact,we will be returning to Houston in 2 wks. and will stay at this hotel. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. It is in a great location, walking distance to many things. The room was very clean and hotel well maintained.I was a little nervous booking since it is older but we were pleasantly surpirsed.

We got to the hotel and we were put in a smoker's room. My reservation read non-smoking. The front desk move me and the family to another room but this time it was smaller than my original resevation. Finally the front desk made it better by upgrading me to the presidential suite at no extra charge. After the first hour everything was better.

This is an overall good value conveniently located in Downtown Houston. The rooms are rather small but have all the necessary amenities you would expect and the rooms and common areas and clean and modern. My only complain was that when my car was valeted it was apparently parked under a tree and returned to me covered with bird droppings.

My wife and I reached the hotel late in the night at around 11:30pm. One surprise for me was that there was no free parking, although I suppose I should have expected that since the hotel is located in downtown Houston. The valet parking was $18 until checkout (12pm the next day). After driving around for 10 minutes, I found that none of the parking lots near the hotel have any attendants and there was no clear way to get a 24hr parking permit, only a nightly permit. So I decided to go with the valet, and that went very smoothly. Otherwise the hotel was quite comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They have free use of computers and printers in the lobby area and I was able to buy and print online tickets ($5 cheaper) to the Space Center. We woke up too late to have breakfast there (which closed at 9:30am), so I don't know about that. But there was a Chipotle restaurant nearby where we picked up lunch before heading out to the Space Center. In hindsight we should perhaps have booked a hotel closer to the Space Center, but that was okay since we got a feel for downtown Houston by staying there.

Pros - Price! Close to several places open late for dinner around the corner on Broadway. Fitness room well appointed if small. Comfortable beds, nice desk and closet, great bathroom as long as you don't require a tub. Cons - Was given a smoking room, though got over the smell once in it a few minutes. Resturant/bar kept closing early. Elevator kept being problematic, though staff was very helpful each time.

The staff were helpful and do a great job taking care of the property and showed me they really appreciated my business. They have things and services that are really important to me such as a guest self-service laundry, internet access, help other travel arrangements such as printing a boarding pass a good place to catch a cab to the airport. The room was well organized with really confortable pillows and not too many like some other hotels with 3+ / bed. Club quarters was a good value for a really good, clean hotel.

Stayed one night in town for a concert. Hotel was clean, but checkin was automated.which was kinda weird. We got up at twelve thirty and was about to leave hotel when the phone rang and person alerted my husband that bc we didn't check out at noon the "computer automatically charged $35 extra dollars to my debit card". I wouldn't have been upset if we had gotten some kind of warning about this late check-out charge, like maybe a gracious phone call? Since the " computer did it" the charge couldn't be taken off, and there was no manager at hotel to speak to about it. Just a way to suck a few extra dollars out of your hotel guests, won't be staying at club quarters again in any city.

Pretty nice botique hotel! Room was small but comfortable. Nice perks with free chilled water and guest closet nearby with extra coffee, iron, blankets, etc. Couldn't find extra pillows -- asked maid but never saw her again. All in all, better than we expected!

Club Quarters Houston was a delightful surprise to find in a downtown area. The staff was very welcoming and helpful at all times. Transportation was readily available whether you needed to get around the downtown Houston area or out to either airport. The accomadations within the hotel was warm, comfortable and cozy. Anything you could possibly need, was at your fingertips. This was not a "chain" hotel, and it shows. It was a personalized experience. I would stay at this hotel again. I would recommend this hotels to other business colleagues.

On the whole very good with coffee making facilities, free bottled water, and free internet usage. The location was downtown, but surrounding bars/resataurants close VERY early in the area. Menu in the hotel was excellent though. On the whole, very good!
