Really, all I needed was a place to sleep during my stay in Toronto, nothing fancy. It was clean. It was quiet. And it was the cheapest option that was in/near Downtown instead of over by Pearson Airport. One of my important considerations was free wifi and this place had it. Another consideration was proximity to Downtown. This place is on the outskirts of downtown, really, but it's not too shabby considering the subway runs every 5-10 minutes most of the day and the blue night buses run often enough late at night. Just a hop, skip, and a jump to the Sherbourne subway station. The building happens to be a nice historic structure too! Built in 1882 apparently. Ernest Hemingway stayed here when he worked for the Toronto Star. Even has a kickass old-timey elevator! :-D This place is not for you if you're in a wheelchair or anything, though. No ramps or anything, and the Sherbourne station (as many subway stations) isn't accessible either.

Got the room last minute for a reasonable price - someone tried to break into my car within 5 minutes of checking in .. luckily my friend was in the car at the time and they didn't get anything. There was lots of hookers on the street out front after hours if you were a lonely businessman looking for some company. The room was decent, pretty small and very old but again a good deal. Bathroom had signs of age, paint peeling on the ceiling some water damage that had been covered up etc. The building was built in the 1800's and has obviously been through several renovations. It definitely had character.

Great little hotel. Two minute walk from the Sherbourne Subway station (essentially five mins from downtown as a result), free, stable internet and a good breakfast in the morning. Would stay again, no doubt.
