Civic Center Inn San Francisco Guest Reviews
This hotel features a rude and inattentive staff, cigarette burns on the bed and curtains, telephone numbers for anonymous hook-ups in the Bible, and the delicate smell of urine in the half-working elevator. Parking is available, if you can find it, at your own risk. The friendliest person we met at the hotel was a street-walker who was arranging her clothing in the elevator. This is a "no-tell motel" in the Tenderloin district, not the Civic Center. The "close walk" to the Civic Center is about a mile through a gang infested crack alley. The only stars in this place are the stars you'll see after getting mugged for drug money. We cut our losses and went elsewhere after one hour.

This place is terrible! No closet or dresser to put any clothes - not even a clothes bar to hang anything. Pillows were as flat as could be, elevator smelled like urine, would not go out at night in that neighborhood alone, only one really worn hand towel, no remote for the TV, well, you get the idea...I would recommend you take this establishment off your list of available hotels.

In a word: scary. The location is in a scary part of downtown. The elevator smelled like urine. Rooms were tiny with holes in the walls, beds hard, pillows like bricks, very noisy, walls thin so you can hear everyone else, toilet paper sitting on an old vanity in bathroom. No toilet paper holder, water damage in tiles, the free wireless internet was unuseable and pathetic, found an empty vodka bottle under the bed. Paid for three nights, walked away after one night with no refund. Do yourself a favor and not stay there:(

Stayed as part of a weekend trip to get my daughter settled in for an intensive dance program. We needed an economical place to stay. The staff at check-in was very friendly. Room was clean and about what I expected. Was surprised, though, that there was no place in the room for hanging up jackets or clothes. The spout in the bath tub was missing the valve to activate the shower.

I was very wary of staying here in the first place and once I arrived I found out my instincts were correct. The rooms were run down, there were cigarette burns in almost everything. I kept thinking if i should cut my loss and book someplace else. The staff was extremely rude, when asked for washcloths at 7pm the attendant asked why couldn't it wait until the morning. While there is parking, there isn't enough spots for everyone. I ended up getting a street cleaning ticket because I had to park on the street, so don't let the free parking fool you. The area is also very run down and full of homeless drug addicts.
