you get what you pay for, i enjoyed my stay, and my wife did too. the kids get loud at the weekend with the drinking, but we were all young once. there was no trouble at all, and they even kept our car safe round the back for 4 days/nights. cheers

The building is tired and run down, but the staff are excellent, they went out of their way to help me and my children throughout my stay. Situated nr Kings cross makes it a great location, I would visit again for the service and if they spend money doing it up it would be a gold mine. The room had tv, wardrobe and drawers aswell as a shower and sink, this is rare in a backpackers.

I lived upto 4 months a year in hotels (Malaysia) and being on a budget, I was extremely happy to get to stay in Sydney for a price within my budget and of value for money to me. I do visit Australia at least once a year and have always been constrained by the cost of lodging in Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sydney. Am planning to stay here again next visit (2012). It's 5-7 minutes walk from St James Train Station. Recommend the weekly multipass 3 if you like to visit within a 80 km-radius of Sydney City. Hostel exceeded my expectations for the budget

Think of this as a backpacker lodge, and a pretty ordinary one at that, and you will not be too shocked.
