Tianjin, whose name means ‘the place where the emperor crossed the river’, is situated in northern China on the Bohai Gulf, facing the Yellow Sea. While discovering the urban areas of Tianjin, tourists should not miss the Ancient Culture Street and Jinwan Square for sophisticated-meets-traditional architecture. Or hop on a train and go north to lovely Panshan Mountain, where the ancient temples and majestic peaks will astound visitors. To get up-close-and-personal with the wildlife, the Tianjin Zoo has thousands of animals and a connecting water park. From hiking in the wilderness to riding the modern Tianjin Eye (the world’s sixth largest Ferris wheel), this Chinese city will have attractions to please all visitors.
When To Go
Summer, fall, winter and spring all are distinctive in Tianjin. Summers are warm, with temperatures reaching in the high 20s°C (80s°F). The autumn brings cooler weather, which is perfect for outdoor activities. The winter months of December and January can get chilly and very frigid, with temperatures reaching the -4°C (low 20s°F). Spring days are usually windy, though daytime temperatures are still pleasant enough for visiting Tianjin.

Getting There
As one of the largest man-made ports in China, Tianjin Xingang can be accessed via domestic sea routes, as well as international routes from countries like South Korea and Japan. There are also passenger cruise liners that regularly run from Europe and Japan that travel to Tianjin.
By air, the Tianjin Binhai International Airport offers travellers routes that will reach most major Chinese cities, as well as those in Europe and the United States.
By train, the Tianjin Railway Station is quite large and accommodates many people travelling to numerous cities in China, such as Beijing, Shanghai and Xi’an.
