There is a wintry wonderland called Harbin that is situated in the northeastern region of China. When To Go

Harbin has distinct seasons that yield long, cold winters and short, cool summers. During the winter, Harbin can get extremely cold, whereas in summer is mildly warm. The city can be visited almost anytime, but during the months of July to September, and December to January, visitors flock to Harbin. Summertime brings rain during June through August, which tends to cool the city down. Winter feels like a wonderland in this ‘Ice City’, and tourists should be prepared with warm clothing when visiting.

Getting There

Located about 33km (20.5 miles) northwest of Harbin, the Harbin Airport, also known as Harbin Taiping International Airport, is the second largest airport in the northeastern region of China. Over 50 international and domestic flights are served through this airport each day.

By rail, Harbin has two train stations, the Harbin Railway Station and the Harbin Eastern Railway. The Harbin Railway station, formerly Songjiang Railway Station, was constructed by the USSR and is a major transfer station. As for the Harbin Eastern Railway Station, trains to Beijing, Tianjin and many other cities are available.

The Nangang Bus Station offers long-distance buses with service throughout the Heilongjiang Province. Available destinations include Shenyang inside the Liaoning Province, as well as Changchun, which lies in the Jilin Province.
