Foshan lies in the southwestern part of the Guangdong Province in China. Since ancient times, this Chinese city has had nicknames such as ‘Pottery City’, because of the beautiful, handcrafted porcelain wares made by local artisans. It is also known as an important industrial city of the Zhujiang Triangle. Foshan has a long history, meaning there are many attractions that visitors must see while touring the city.
Foshan’s Zumiao, or Zu Temple, is many hundred years old and showcases traditional architecture as well as nighttime Chinese opera shows. The Shiwan Art and Pottery Factory dating from the Ming Dynasty is a great place to observe the city’s once major industry. Xiqiao Mountain makes for a lovely, nature retreat. This mountain is an extinct volcano and is recognized as a national scenic area. Zhongshan Park and Leigang Park both offer attractive scenery and family fun. If you are a big fan of martial arts films, you will not want to miss a visit to Bruce Lee's Ancestral Home. As for shopping and dining, visit the Baihua Square near Zumiao Commercial Street. Here, you will find a large shopping mall offering local handcrafts, cafes, and restaurants.
When To Go
Located in Guangdong Province, Foshan has a subtropical, humid, monsoon climate. The area gets quite a bit of rainfall, although temperatures do not vary much throughout the year. Spring and autumn are the perfect times to visit Foshan. In the months of March through October, there are many outdoor activities to enjoy, such as rafting and trekking. During autumn, visitors can enjoy events and festivals.

Getting There
The Foshan Shadi Airport and the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport serve airlines that offer domestic and international flights. From these airports, visitors can take ground transportation to reach their accommodations.
The Foshan Railway Station, located at 1 Wenchang Road, connects the city with the national railway network. There are several trains, which stop at the Foshan Railway Station on their route to larger cities. Some of those cities include Hong Kong, Beijing and Chongqing.
By boat, Foshan can be reached along the Pearl River Delta. Waterway transportation has always been important to Foshan’s transportation industry. There are more than 70 waterways for inland shipping and transportation.
