The urban oasis covers 69 hectares and as a result, has many inherent points of interest to explore. As is the case with most imperial gardens in China, these include man-made lakes, pools, pavilions, pagodas and elaborate garden sculptures. Prominent Buddhist temples within Beihai Park include Chanfu Temple, Yong’an Temple and Bai Ta stupa. The impressive Five Dragon Pavilions complex dates back to the Ming Dynasty and is one of the foremost attractions in the park.
Vitals and Tips
The entrance to Beihai Park is 3.5 from Tiananmen Square. The park is easily accessible on foot from the Forbidden City.
Beihai Park contains four scenic sections: Circular City, Qionghua Islet, the north bank and east bank.
Zhongnanhai, the main compound and day-to-day administrative hub of the Communist Party of China, is adjacent to Beihai Park.
