We have stayed at the Chifley several times now. The staff are great - very helpful and friendly. However, the hotel has been undergoing renovations for more than a year now. Unfortunately the bar and restaurant remain closed - this was also the case 12 months ago! Rooms are OK - clean and easily accessible. Its a shame the lift is closed at night though! Still, it is a very good location and good value for money. Parking is free which is excellent too if you are staying for a longer period. Will stay again but hope the facilities will be reopened especially at Xmas/ New Year time.

Overall good experience. Easy to find driving from airport and parking free. Moderate walk to centre of town but a few restaurants closer. Our room was a bit shabby, but very good sized, on top floor, in which pride of place was a huge jacuzzi bath! Very welcome after long hot days in town.Decent buffet breakfast for only A$10 each. Downside, as mentioned by others, is the noisy lifts. A service lift next to our room creaked and groaned a few times at 5.30 am though mercifully not for very long. A room nearer the passenger lift might suffer more.

Walking to city takes half an hour, so using the tram was a good advice. Breakfast was not worth the price, just plain and nothing out of ordinary. Use of internet very expensive.

I was there on a business trip and from the beginning found the staff to be good, especially Keegan. He is very polite and respectful and his willingness to help is what exceptional service is all about. Thank you Keegan All the best. Rex Parker.

This was our first trip to Adelaide and we were in town for a wedding. The bride had advised that either the Grand Chifley or the Chifley South Terrace (right next to each other) would be the best hotels to stay in due to their proximity to both the ceremony and the reception (which was held at The Pavilion). We are now wishing we had not taken her advice and picked our own hotel. The Chifley South Terrace is extremely dated and appears to have had very little maintenance, possibly since it was first built some decades ago. Overall, the hotel felt more like a motel and everything was quite shabby and run down. The location was close to the reception venue for the wedding we were attending however for a regular visit to Adelaide it was too far away from the main CBD and mall area for my liking. It was necessary to catch a bus or taxi to get to anywhere that had reasonable signs of life, food and coffee etc. The room was large and the bed was comfortable but that was were the positives ended. The bathroom was pretty average and in our room the shower was a health risk - the hot water was either scalding (literally) or non-existent, which led to 2 days of cold showers. Our room was also at the front of the building facing onto South Terrace and the road noise was quite loud in the mornings (especially with some type of garbage collection occurring at about 6.30am on Saturday morning). I was unimpressed that, despite having organised for a late checkout with our booking we were called by reception hassling us to check out at the normal check out time. This was my first stay in Adelaide and at this hotel. I would not stay here again and I am certain there would be better value for money hotels in the city with better location and amenities that the here.

The hotel is a bit out of the main shopping precinct but it takes just a free 15 minute tram ride to get to the CBD.

Adequate facilities. Fantastic location. Moderately noisey. Great reception staff. One rude staff member from housekeeping. Could do with a revamp/upgrade bathroom. Exercise room very average.

Only arrived at 11pm and left by 9am so didnt use any amenities. Beds good, shower hot. Not as upmarket at Grand Chiffley next door - easy to get confused when booking.

A hotel built in the 70s that has not been updated since. The room was clean, but very old. The aircon had no temperature control.

We booked our day trip to Kangaroo Island from this hotel but we did not know how to get to Port Jervis for ferry. The front desk receptionist was very helpful, he emphasized that by making couple of turns, we should be driving on the South Road , which would take us to the Port in 1.5 hours. We however trusted our GPS and my husband selected an "Easy Route" to there and we totally forgot to look at the sign for "South Road". We drove through many suburbs and speed by only 60kph and our GPS indicated we needed another 2 hours to go there. We were in a hurry and our ferry would depart in 90 minutes. Our GPS definitely did not give us the fastest way but where were we now? Suddenly the receptionist hints of "South Road" clicked in. Finally by re-routing the GPS to South Road and heading south, we managed to arrive Port Jervis 5 min before the ferry departed. How rush and now I don't trust my GPS but I will always ask the local folks for advice. Front Desk and Concierge are usually very helpful. Don't miss out...

Excellent hotel room was large, clean no complaints at all. Free parking a bonus. Pool good. About 15 minutes walk from city centre shopping area. Dont hire a car from well known car places go to Cut Price car and truck rentals, half the price and only charge $10 a day for the extra insurance.
