Chaaya Wild Yala Hotel Guest Reviews
Excellent location to start your Yala safari bieing close to the park entrance and on the coast. Cabins are air conditioned and has hot and cold water, a fridge, television and there is a hotel pool. You can arrange for a full or half day safaris with the hotel or with one of the many independent jeep operators. Hit and miss whether you will see any leopards. Our first day had 3 sighting of leopards, 6 leopards altogether, lots of elephants, spotted deers, wild hogs and many variety of birds. However, our second day safari we saw no leopards, only a few elephants and a few spotted deer and wild hog, but we did manage to find a jackal at the end of the safari. Food is good, you can go a la carte or for US$20 you can have the buffet which serves Sri Lankan and western food. A walk along the beach is recommended, but swimming is not recommended because of the strong currents. A dip in one of the shallow rock pools can be fun, but not recommended for children.
