Very hot. No cooling. Airconditioner did not work despite requests to fix

I chose this hotel based on previous reviewer comments that there is live English Premier League Football on TV and also free Internet in the rooms. However, it wasn't so. Disappointed, especially about the lack of EPL. Internet was 80RMB per 24hrs usage.

Well positioned near the central shopping area of Shanghai. All the hotels we stayed in in China had hard beds this hotel was one of the better ones. The airconditioning is very good and it needs to be in August.

This Hotel is very well located with thousands of shops close by along with two metro stations. The room is more spacious than expected and breakfast is good. Concierge tends to be "shy" and could be more proactive. For soccer fans - this is one of the few hotels in Shanghai that can offer live English Premier League on its TV (ESPN and Star+) channels!

This hotel is definitely centrally located, for business as well as for vacationing. You walk right out onto busy Nanjing East Road which is a shoppers paradise. Kilometres of shopping on a pedestratian mall for all varieties of items. It is also in the right side of town for bargain hunters at Yu Garden and these markets are a must for any visitor. Just remember to bargain hard! Cost is a little on the high side and you could probably get a cheaper hotel around the same vicinity. Service was not 5 star as I did not get my free dailies for 2 days until I asked for it at the counter. The Executive Floor provided not much more facilities or benefits. The only thing useful to me was their in-room PC and free broadband connection throughout my stay.

This is a hotel which I booked online. It is above my expectation for its cleanliness, service and location for the price which I have paid. The room on high level enable us to have a good view of the city. The staff there are friendly and helpful. I will definitely recommend it to my friends.

This hotel situated in the heart of Shanghai, minutes away from Bund, financial district, and, most importantly, the shopping district...The location says it all...will definitely stay again.

If you''re looking for the perfect place to stay in Shanghai, it''s the Central Hotel Shanghai. My bride and I could not have had a more perfect stay or been happier. It''s central location to the bund is just a short walk away. Our room was wonderful and the staff was so helpful with all our inquiries. We will stay nowhere else when we again visit Shanghai. We truly recommend the Central Hotel Shanghai to anyone wanting a remarkable visit to Shanghai.

The staff were professional and excellent, very accommodating. The Chinese restaurant on the second floor was great, my wife and I enjoyed our honeymoon for 8 days in this wonderful hotel. We enjoyed our stay so much we returned to stay another 5 days before departing for USA. The location is perfect, walk outside the hotel and you are right on Nanjing rd., walk straight down Nanjing and you are at the Bund, perfect. The food and service we found to be excellent. The hotel has an airline desk, very helpful. The hotel staff got the same room for my wife and I upon our second visit, which we enjoyed very much. The king size bed was soft and comfortable, the bathroom nice and clean. I can highly recommend this hotel to my friends and family and anyone planning a trip to Shanghai.

Shanghai has many different sorts of neighborhoods. The Central Hotel is in the centre of downtown, a block from the Nanjing Road Mall, which resembles Times Square in New York City. If that''s what you want, then this hotel is pefect. If you want a more sedate area, then you''d probably prefer a hotel out in the French Concession.

The hotel is very good, and we will stay there again next time. The location is very good, where we can walk to Nanjing Road, and Bund. It is also easy to get to Yu Yuan/Chen Huang Miao. Besides these, the hotel has shuttle bus to Pudong airport every hour, which we choose to take when we left. The staff is very kind and very helpful when we ask for directions. The room is clean, and we had a very good view, aloutgh we are not sure whether it is because we were on the toppest floor.

The road is under construction and hard to park the car. The shuttle to airport is without a 7 a.m. trip and my flight was at 10, needs to be improved.

The hotel is opposite the shopping paradise, Nanjing Road (one street away). Nice view from the hotel, though the windows cannot be opened. Down the end of Nanjing Road is The Bund. A must visit place for tourists. There is a good view of the Oriental Pearl Tower from the Bund. The internet is chargeable at RMB30/day. (Unlimted access). I was told that it was a promotion. However, the computer broke down on the 1st night itself. The manager couldn''t find a solution for it, suggested that they change a room for me. But, I find it too troublesome. However, he was kind enough to replace a set for me. Generally, the staffs are quite helpful and friendly.

Location is good, but staff & service were very disappointing. I ended up with a problem, and basically the staff simply didn''t care about it at all. not acceptable for a hotel of this - supposed - class. Rooms are OK, clean, but the overall is far from perfect, there are plenty of small details: carpets used at a few places, drawers not opening easily, VERY bad shampoo, trash on the floor on the front porch, no taxi service in front of the hotel... not important taken individually, but as a whole, it makes a big difference.
