Location
Tailors Hall Hotel Edinburgh is located in the Old Town in the city centre - a UNESCO world heritage site, and one of the prominent features and popular tourist attractions is Edinburgh Castle which is within easy access of the hotel. Although the pictures promised a comfortable stay, the reality was rather different. The "double" room was just two single beds stuck together so when you moved into the middle you had the uncomfortable dip in your back. You could hear people talking outside my room, obviously the people from the pub next door. One of the blinds was just tucked into the window because it had no cord to move it. The other single bed in our room was a disgrace! Thank god no one had to sleep on it, I put my bag on the bed and the middle just sunk! It would have proven a very uncomfortable stay for anyone in that bed! The staff were very helpful but unfortunately the state of their hotel lets them down.

Found hotel was good value all round. Location very central if hard to reach on foot due to steps (with bags etc) Extra service of being able to leave bag over weekend whilst away was appreciated.

This hotel from the pictures looks good, but in real life it is some what tired and dated. Location is good, but that is the only positive. Rooms are scruffy and general standards in the hotel are not great. No internet available at all. Bar area used for breakfast smelt very poor. I would not use that hotel again. A colleague who stayed at the same hotel different room on the same night thought the same.

The location of the hotel is perfect and coulnd't be better. Unfortunately, that's the only good thing. The carpet and the wall paper in the room were missing in some places. We also had ants in the room. We wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Great location close to the Royal Mile and the Grassmarket. Our room was on the right hand side of the beer garden and to get there you had to climb up some stairs which seemed quite dirty and covered in split alcohol. The bed was very uncomfortable with springs sticking into me. However, the hotel was reasonably prices (for Edinburgh) and location excellent.
